From what I hear there aren't any rules in freestyle (except the ones on the rules page).

In particular purposely delaying your turn rather than being considered poor sportsmanship is widely considered a sound tactic in freestyle.

But then I have almost no experience with it and after reading about it in the forums that's likely to continue to be the case.

What rule were you accused of breaking?

My brother firthy19 was playing and then when he had finished attacking so had both the other team. I eliminated yellow and was accused of cheating.

2007-04-10 14:30:05 - cyncity: red you do realize what you just did is against CC rules
2007-04-10 14:30:16 - pcstraub: i agree
2007-04-10 14:30:35 - firthy19: what
2007-04-10 14:30:43 - firthy19: how
2007-04-10 14:30:43 - pcstraub: freestyle means we all play at the same time...that was a total cheat move
2007-04-10 14:31:47 - cyncity: you cant hold off your turns until everyone else is fortifying its like okay you know they cant fight back its like hitting someone from behind they cant do anything about it
2007-04-10 14:33:28 - cyncity: on my ignore list

I don't think what you did violates the rules on freestyle play order. Nor if what's posted in the forums is any indication, the spirit of freestyle play. I don't think it's true as was said that "freestyle means we all play at the same time." That may be that player's (and his partner's) understanding but I don't think it's specified in the rules and seems to be at odds with the prevailing opinion in the forums.

Again, I don't play freestyle because those tactics (among others) don't appeal to me, but I believe they are legitimate tactics in a freestyle game.

If you are left negative feedback, be sure to leave a response. If the negative feedback is based on an erroneous interpretation of a (perhaps non-existent) rule you can PM wicked to remove it.

You may suggest to the other team that they may enjoy sequential games more since the tactics that displeased them aren't possible in a sequential play order game.

They are of course free to place you on their ignore-lists. But if they continue to play freestyle games I suspect they will acquire exceedingly long ignore-lists.

Wow thank for this, I have a bigger ignore list now. Those morons, I hate people that can't play freestyle without whining.

Good point.

I haven't tried this but possibly: open a window in Firefox and log into your account, then have your brother open a window in another browser (not Firefox, but IE, Netscape, etc.) and log into his account. Then although you couldn't literally play at the same time, you could interleave your turns so that it would appear you were playing at the same time.

Those two players were all for playing at the same time. They just couldn't stand that you and your partner one-upped them by playing at the same time as they were deploying.

It's just bad luck for them, really, and they're whining about you and your partner taking advantage of a rare opportunity. Nothing to shout about, and you certainly didn't break any rules, IMO.

I agree. You've done nothing wrong as far as I can tell. My interpretation of Freestyle is that enables you to play whenever you want and stops a lot of 24hr. holdups waiting for players to play/or deadbeat in a lot of cases. It just means that everybody has to play their moves in a 24hr period rather than potentially once every six days as sequential could be if every player took 23 hrs before they made their move in a six handed game and took an hour to make it.

FREESTYLE = WHENEVER YOU WANT IN A GIVEN 24HR PERIOD. Good tactics I would suggest.

Is it possible: To start a freestyle game and before it fills up with players, you go take a quick shower and when you get back to your PC, you have been taken off the board?
