Wonderful dedication, or someone scared of a bollocking?

So I read this line in chat earlier today from a good friend and clanmate:

"And I discovered yesterday that I can get an easy wifi connection by pulling into a service station on my way home, which gives me an extra option for covering turns by iPad or netbook"

I don't know, but just to picture this grown man pulling over to play a turn of Risk! tickles my funny bone. What a great guy!

I've done worse things. Once I had about ten minutes to take a turn, and the car next to me had something that was hotspotting an unsecured signal out. I had my friend drive close and slowly next to that car until my turn on Atlantis was complete.

To this day, that man driving the 1992 Black Buick Regal will never understand. Could never understand.

He probably thought you were one of those groups of hoodlums who chase people in cars and try to run them off the road!

Power outage in my city ( no internet ) and told it will be a few hours till it's restored, no available car so caught a bus ( 1hr ) to neighboring city. Straight to internet cafe, missed a crucial team turn by minutes. Plants palm into forehead but is happy that rest of my turns can be taken :P

haha - I bet I'm not the only one here to have woken up in the morning on occasion and thought, 'hang on, did I remember to take my turn last night before bed?', and break into a cold sweat while the computer powers up with all the haste of a panda in mating season.

There is an old thread (based on MTIceman?) where he got arrested? For stealing the internet? From a library for trying to take a CC turn from his car. It was in a Canadian newspaper I think.

In my earlier days, before I had the internet, I would take my turns from my car sitting outside of the apartment clubhouse for the free WiFi there.

I had to borrow somebody's blackberry from the seat in front of me in the Cricket Stadium to take my turn before it got missed. Unfortunately I got distracted because a there were 3 wickets in 4 balls and I ended up missing by 10 min because of watching the presentation ceremony :(

There was a hurricane back in 1999 or 2000 that took out the power in my area, including the power in my apartment. My roommate and I noticed that the lights in the hallway stayed on (I guess the building had a generator). We also noticed the power outlets in the hallway. So, we decided to plug in two of our devices to see what happened... and low and behold, the outlets worked! No, we did not plug in the refridgerator (the only thing in there was beer and we drank it). The television and the X-Box received the much-needed electricity.

It's soooo much better than that...

It was AK_iceman, and it was in Alaska, and he was a mod here at the time...

A big storm knocked the power out here for 14 hours. Eventually I pushed my portable welding machine outside and cranked it up --running two 50 ft. extension cords inside-- connected to my computer and coffee maker. The gas powered machine rumbling outside and the 240 volts/6000 watts it produces felt like overkill.

Love ya Lee, but this made absolutely no sense to me... ;)

Ever hurry to take a turn while your wife/girlfriend/significant other is... "waiting for you"?

Yeah. Worst is when you click on 'Start' knowing that you stand a chance of sweeping the board in a multiplayer esc game, then the wife walks in "Can you drive me into town now please, it's raining and there will be no cabs". "Er...can it wait for an hour?"

Ouch! Could you play from your phone internet while your wife drove, and you could then drive the car back?
