Conquer Club

Just want to know how many players think they could get to Conqueror if they really tried or wanted to. Also how many players think they will someday make it to Conqueror,and it's just a matter of time

(I personally know I will never get close unless I use the methods of GLG or rabbiton, which I am not willing to do)

If I treated it like I was getting paid for it, and ended up not wanting to have any fun while doing it, I think there's a slight chance I could. But I enjoy playing doodleass and 1v1 too much.

I reckon I could get to general by just playing the games and settings I'm good at and then only by playing private games against like ranked players, but then I would lose out on a lot of the fun that is Conquer Club.

The variety of games, touneys and clan wars would be lost and thats whats important not sitting at the top of the leader board with the smug expresiion of:

"I'm only sat here cause I farm inexperienced players or I have a fast computer and only play freestyle"

we all prob could if we all used the dirty tactics most conquers of late have used but most of us enjoy playing decent opposition

I know I certainly won't get there, since I don't play many team games, and I'm sure it'd take a while playing 1vs1!

I CAN say that I have beaten more than one conquerer, though!!! (qualifying that I beat them early in their careers in 1 vs 1 games).

Seems like most who got there have gamed the system with freestyle and farming on certain maps. They are really good players to begin with but get caught up in trying to get to the top.

I think sdh could get there if he'd stop playing speed Doodle Assassin.

I think if you could, you would. No offense but it's easy to slag these guys for cheap tactics, which they undoubtedly engage in, but the truth of the matter is you still have to be good to win that much. Whether it's Blitz dominating Pelo War or Herpes slamming City Mogul, every Conqueror we've had can flat out play. Are there better players that haven't made conqueror? Sure, josko.ri, Master Fenrir, Chariot of Fire, Rodion, etc all fit that bill. But don't kid yourself that anyone can do it.

I could get my rank back to colonel easily if I started trying again. I could also probably make brigadier and the top 100 if I had enough commitment. Conqueror is another story and I don't see it ever happening.

I've been curious about this, since I've read similar posts by others over the years who have had a higher rank than what they are currently sporting...

Are you currently now playing for "fun" more so than when you are gaming to achieve or keep a higher rank? The way you phrase things, it sounds like the work involved sometimes doesn't measure up to the fun, but I could be misreading your quote.

I doubt that I could make up there. I think if I tried I could reach 3500-4000, but not to Conqueror.

if i may answer to this. a long time ago (4-5 years) i wanted to climb the ranks and actually managed to get to the top 20 or something like that. (i was still very far from conqueror).
at that point i was playing mostly 2000+ games but i also was playing people from my clan that had a lot less points than me. i wasn't farming or abusing any map/setting. so it came a day when looking at some games posted in the clan forum i was tempted not to join them because the people that had already joined were low ranks. at that point after looking at the game for 20 seconds or so i said "screw it. if getting a higher rank requires me to give up playing my low ranked friends, then i don't need it" and since then i never cared about the score and never looked at my opponent's score either.
i guess it all boils down to what you consider fun. if fun means playing any map and any setting with any player then you won't make it to conqueror. you probably won't even make it to brigadier. if fun means being #1 then i guess you got to do what you got to do.

also, getting to conqueror is damn hard and i mean it. abusing and farming is not as easy as people think. whoever says that anybody can become conqueror is wrong. it does take a lot of skill and dedication and time to actually become one. sure the methods may be shady but it's still a lot of work.

similar for me..

I found 3 other very good player and formed a quads team and exclusively played the 1 map, normally against teams that had never played with each other before. it was easy points, but then it took a lot of the fun out of it..Now I only play for fun.. I am about half my highest score and haven't been in the top 100 on the scoreboard for a long long time.. score isnt important, but having fun is.

unless i made a huge effort at being a farmer or controlling another account i planted on other teams or became a MH or a friend of a MH, i don't think i could cheat enough points to become conqueror... it takes a very specific type of game play that i just don't think i could do and feel good about the results... i'm happy floating around where i am right now and just having fun with my friends...-el Jesus negro

been there and done it twice. 1st time was prior to the "conqueror" rank being created. Really have no interest in doing it a 3rd time.

Could I? Yes, been there done that. . .but

Warning: a LOT of BS and aggravation comes with it. If you play by rules, people challenge the rules. If you focus on one map, someone complains. If you play team games, others complain. No pleasing everybody -- and particularly a vocal group of 30-50 peops that think the world revolves around their opinion.

Prediction:
next new conquerer: Braddy - currently in 3rd; has been coming up strong in score; sets up tons of trips games
Up and coming possible Conquerors: Lanyards and/or NoSurvivors -- IF they concentrate and chose to have less fun. Oh, and Josko.ri and MC etc., if they wanted to, could easily wipe my score up.

After Conqueror?: Emperor, just like on Starwars. . . Or Caesar, like Rome.

The people who reach conqueror without the use of freestyle have most of my respect. I think to some extent it's about your dedication and patience. I once tried to see how many points I could get in a day by using GLG's method of PMing/walling shitty players, and I got a grand total of 40 points. In the 4 hrs I was on the computer doing homework and netflix and stuff, I put in an effort to get shitty players to play me, and only 4 out of the 20 or so I PM'ed responded. I figured I'd never try it again.

It's a lot about the patience. And specializing.

considering I lost my job yesterday I could have time to waste to make the attempt but with the reality that i have difficulty winning 2 games in a row I doubt it would happen

You should probably be more focused on finding the next job, Gary. You just blew your wad prematurely too by buying premium. Double suck. Let me know if you need help finding work, my Uncle can hook you up on a paper route. It pays 500$ a week but if you miss a house the boss will be pissed!
