Which map is the prejudice-st?

I'm being for realzers. Please don't think about game play or strategy; which map inflicts the most damage, infringes the most on legal rights, is the one you'd most likely fax to your lawyer.

I'm thinking U.S. Senate. I don't approve how Fitz69 failed to include Gary on the Democratic floor and I resent the fact that Euthanasia wasn't considered a more prominent, dominant conglomerate. Although Dick and Jane are seated next to each other, which is adorable.

To Fitz69 >

Unbeknownst to you, there is also a lot of dignity and beauty in death if you choose to live your life right.

I knew an elderly man that once said to a younger girl, "You need to do something with your hair, I'm taking you out tonight"! Six hours later he passed away.

Help support and/or resist peoples right to die,

Nearly all of those names sound too "white." We need some more diversity in that map.

Cricket. The streaker is depicted in brown when it's a well-known fact coloured people don't run naked for fear of tripping over (on it).

Actually I mentioned that in the map creation thread and suggested they call them laborers. I was also basically told to go away. That it was all ok and fine because it was historical truth. Good thing they remained historically accurate and used hunched over slave icons of dark persuasion.

So your saying we should hide history and pretend that the African people who were brought to Jamica weren't slave?

There is a difference between a symbol, bigotry, and racism. Even computers have slave drives and master drives. Even CC has a map of a swastika. The sky isn't falling chicken littles. :)

YES NOLA> symbolic bigotry is wrong! So are chicken little flames.

Now lets make a "Slave trader" map. The more slaves you capture the bigger your bonus. Get them to the boat , across the ocean and to the auction block and you win via victory conditions.

How is this racist? Definition of racism.
"Racism" and "racial discrimination" are often used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis, independent of their somatic (i.e. "racial") differences.

Now, if you made a map where certain races were killed and got a bonus for kill those individuals or races, then yes it would be a racist map. But simply having slaves on a map wouldn't make it racist. What about a map where an Egyptian bonus included slaves and Great Pyramids, would that be racist too?

Would you find it offensive if a map used a slave icon that looked more primate than human?

Or what about the one with a man who is black and bent over as if he is carrying a heavy load? A heavy load of sugar cane, perhaps?

Sure, an icon can be demeaning and thus inappropriate. Though like Nola I fail to see a character that looks more primate than human (that's your interpretation jefjef, which says something). And what can possibly be racist about depicting events that took place in history? It could be deemed more racist to ignore the fact they ever happened. A map with slave ships crossing the Atlantic, or one of Auschwitz with gas chambers - neither can be judged 'racist', but certainly in poor taste.

If the only issue here is the icon, then I don't see a problem with it.
