Players quitting

Hey guys, I've had a lotta fun over the past 3 years(was it?) in CC. I've met a lot of great people but the thing is that way too many of them are quitting. One by one I see a golden icon turn silver and when I check it out I find out that they're last game was like a few months ago, even 1 year. I really miss those people, like gcwca especially, jdw35, jaseleo, gillipig just said he was leaving, mr cookies, Aba and Streaker just to name a few. Even I haven't really been all that active, I remember like last year when I was browsing the forum and posting everywhere everyday. Now I barely come on to the forums. I come on and all the names I see are unfamiliar. I just miss the good old days, you know.

Another thing is that I realised that I've quite some people that foed me. I very sincerely apologise to anyone I may have offended. Anyway so back to the topic, your thoughts?

It's the nature of the internet. People get bored and move on. We all will, someday.

All this represents is change.

People get busy.
Find other passions.
Move away from reliable internet services
Get tired of Risk.

It does not accurately represent how things are going on this site.
How you feel about that personally, is another matter.

Members here continuously moan about how they miss this player, or that player because of absence or bans. They also want flame wars back, and miss the old guard of mods....ect ..ect.

Everything changes, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.

This does not mean that things will not get better, or things will get worse.
The dynamic of this community is in a constant state of flux.

Stick around. If there are people you miss, get involved yourself in the forums and meet new ones. Part of garnering satisfaction from a community like this is participating in it.

Also, this site is addicting, and some of us find that we spend a lot of time in it and stop doing other stuff and have to quit CC in order to catch up with life for a while. Later, having forgotten how time consuming this is, we come back.

This site is getting worse and worse everyday. There is alot less freedom and the rules are not enforced. No one stays on long after they start because of farming and just Belton abuse of power and knowledge of the game. The only people how talk in the forums are the same 4 or 5 guys who are very unreceptive to anyone new. If it was not for the actual game nobody would ever come to this site.

That's a contradiction. If the rules are not enforced then there is more freedom; if there is a lot less freedom then the rules are being enforced. You can't be too hot and too cold at the same time, unless you're a menopausal woman, which I suppose is possible.

actually it's not a contradiction. imagine a site where mods are not enforcing the rules and they don't bother to ban flamers/trolls/cheaters but once somebody dares to say the mods aren't doing their job he gets banned (less freedom of speech)

PS: not saying that's the case here, just giving an example.

This might have an effect on people quitting, the feeling that some abuse their power and priviledged information in order to gain points:

Maybe at face value but thats all. I did word that poorly my bad. There is less freedom as far as what you can do and say they took flame wars out all together. In alot of ways it has become more of a kids site. Theres more rules on tournaments and clans leaving little room for some easy going fun and experimenting. As far as not enforcing rules it is more of a racket than a discipline system. You can do anything you want you just have to pay for your membership back. Thats how they are not enforced. So yes there are more rules and there are consequence but all you have to do is buy your way back in. I dont see how that prevents someone form breaking the rules.

"handled internally" is a bullshit response to this sort of abuse of power. being a hunter and joining close to 30 1v1 games and gaining points by kicking the person for being a multi is below shady. how this person is still a mod is beyond me. i think this tarnishes team CC in ways that the admins aren't really capable of understanding. i am severely disappointed in the response by team CC and if i were a mod, i would stand up publicly and decry this action. this is just more proof that there are different rules for different people. this type of garbage is what makes people leave the site. a mod essentially FARMS points using his MOD powers and it was "handled internally". how about a point reset? how about losing mod-ship, how about a lengthy ban? funny, forum violations are treated more harshly than gaming violations. and this violation was treated as if it never happened. i am disgusted.-el Jesus negro

Achilles is still looking into it.
Why would you conclude that this is being treated like it never happened?

Nothing against you Owen, I know you feel you have been shafted in the past, but it seems that most every post you make now is just bitterness and resentment. Why still roam the forums (unless you are just using it for a pedestal to rage...) if incidences like these make you so angry? Or why even continue to visit the site?

Johnny.

you obviously haven't been reading most of my posts!! i love this place, despite it being slowly ruined, and still enjoy games and some aspects of the forums. you must only catch the ones like this, where i am truly disgusted by something. and achilles is done looking into this. he stated that the mod was asked to stop the practice and it was "NOTED". guess we are supposed to just move on.-el Jesus negro

p.s.-i love how people voicing their opinion in the thread were accused of "trolling"... that is the moderation catch all now. we PAY for this site. we should be allowed to openly debate something without being called trolls for disagreeing with team CC.

I am in agreement with owenshooter here, i have had an open E ticket for a month now and all i get for an answer is we are looking into it. Funny thing is it involves the same mod. masli needs to be punished because mod abuse has gone on too long. There is zero confidence in mods right now because of a couple of bad apples with mod powers. Show some backbone CC and solve this problem the right way if you want this place to get better. The masses need to see some form of leadership or this will just get worse for you and the site. Maybe set up a group of 5 individuals to police the mods themselves, might be a good way to keep them in line, or just punish them like you would anyone else. Until this changes, players will continue to leave this site to one of the many other risk sites popping up everywhere.

Actually, the site is getting better every day. People are having fun every day. People are making friends every day.

People even come here for the forums themselves sometimes more for the game.

This will not happen for everyone however, because negative people will not enjoy the opportunity to make new friends or have fun when they otherwise could.

This will likely happen throughout their entire lives where they will continually complain about everything around them being horrible, and the people being horrible, and as their lives pass them by, they will not realize how many actual happy people there are around them, having fun and having pity for those complainers, who just don't get it.

To all those who do get it. Its been a genuine pleasure meeting you, and sharing this fun little game with you so often. Ive learned quite a bit from the experience and hope you've enjoyed it as well.
