what is the most armies you have ever had at one time?

I've only had like 55 from a cash set in an escalating game which took my armies in one country to 85 or something like that.

Weak effort, really. But it let me win the last game that I won, so that's good.

Luck and lots of strategy. Unfortunately that game is a stalemate.
