Das Schloss is nothing to fear

I recently decided to try getting medals for cross maps. I started alphabetically but decided to skip to Das Schloss because it seemed so hard and I wanted to get it out of the way. To my surprise it has turned out to be one of the easiest maps so far. Being lost for a couple of games I continued and won 5 out of 7. So Das Schloss which looked so formidable turned out to be nothing but a little puppy. Image sometimes turns out to be completely different from reality.

the problem/image with the map stems from it coming out of the foundry and being incomplete... games could not be finished... it was an albatross... i for one have no interest in the map anymore due to it coming out, going in, blah, blah, blah... i just lost all interest in it...-0

I didn't realize that. There seems to be nothing wrong with it now though.

yeah, because they fixed it... but for some of us that remember all the stalled games and the uproar over the foundry process being called into question, it is just a bad memory...-0
p.s.-glad you kicked ass on it on the way to your medal!!

Maps coming out of foundry unfinished is a problem even today... we have beta testing now, but still, there's no way a mapmaker can prepare for every eventuality - especially with a map that tries for a complex and/or novel gameplay... thus, when a map comes out in beta, and happens to have flaws in gameplay, lots of people get a bad first impression of the map, and even if it's later fixed they won't want to play it because of the first impression.
There's an easy fix: let mapmakers beta-test their maps on the test server, before releasing the map to the general public... but of course, that would be a much too sensible thing to do, by CC standards.

I've started working on a solitaire app for testing maps. I planned on making it available to the public once it's working, but it's slow going because I haven't done much web development, and I don't have a lot of time to devote to it.
