I don't understand how a player I have never lost to [one guy I beat 3 times so far] and they give a 4 in game play!

These guys don't bother to even try to give a rating that makes sense. They just hand out 4 4 4.

A 4 in fairplay when I have never missed a turn?
A 4 in game play when I have beat them every time?
A 4 in Tude? Well, that is at least possible, but WRONG!

Com'on people, either give a rating that makes sense or don't give one at all.

... But I get medals for doing ratings... OK, but then I want to send you back to the start of this post!

All 4's is not a bad rating at all.

How is 4 a bad rating? It's above average.

I'm tired of these whiners who seem to think they deserve nothing but 5:s for all games, constantly, and get offended if someone gives them a 4 - or god forbid, a 3!

This is exactly why the rating scale is so skewed.

I give most players 3s unless they have done something to warrant a better or worse rating. If play them again I will adjust the rating according to how they did in that game. Most players are average, not everybody can be excellent.

LOL! Well, if I be a whiner, then I would def deserve a bad score in Tude. But in a 2 player game, the only 'non-fairplay' thing that IMHO can be done is to miss turns on purpose to gain an advantage. So rather than railing at a 'bad' rating here, I am trying to point out [and by responses received I failed big time] that some ratings do not apply. Personally I think most 2 player games, the fairplay rating should be a zero or not rated. That does not affect their rating up or down.

Next we have gameplay. This one is always a valid rating. The point I was trying to make on this one is someone who rates you a 4 when you beat them 3 out of 3 games is not bothering to give any consideration to how you actually played. And, in somegames, your drop is so good or so bad, that your gameplay is something that can't be evaluated so, again a zero should be given for those games.

Attitude? No worries! That is 100% subjective. So as long as the person giving the rating feels he/she has evaluated my Tude and found it wanting, no worries.

The reason I created this topic, is to try to get people to THINK about the person they played and EVALUATE them to the best of their ability. If someone does that and gives me all 1's, I am happy. I am not happy to get any 1's, but if he/she felt I deserved a 1, then I am cool with it.

And, well, I also posted this topic because I was having fun doing it! This is a games people! It does not count in your RL. It won't get you a better job or a bigger raise. So, IMHO, I think we need to lighten up a bit and have some fun. How does that reconcile with wanting people to give thoughtful ratings?.... I guess it don't!!!

how is 4 above average on this site? i know what you're saying but you have to look at the average rating given out on this site to conclude what is an average rating... i'd say that's somewhere around the 4.6/4.7 mark. all 4's being below average on this site. what would you think if a guy with a rating of 4 joined your game?

that he has an average rating or wonder why his rating is so low?... you don't need to answer we all know what it should be.

Four is a pretty piss poor result.....not for you guys you understand, but for those of us who are able to sneer at the bourgeois ranks of Major down to Lieutenant. At your level you should be satisfied with just above the average.

Have you considered the idea that you are just inept, incompetent and untalented at the game and that your opponent is even worse than you? In that case take heart from the knowledge there is some one down the chain from you.

I could not tell whether you are good or bad...especially as you don't figure on my radar.

Right on bro! I think you just said what I was trying to but failing! I guess my rating at English should be very low!!

lol fruitcake in your wisdom remember you may pass some of the same people on the way down as you did on your lucky way up/dont get to comfortable where you are your ratings can suddenly nosedive if you ever play anyone outside the group you only play with so you wont lose your rank or ratings /the low players enjoy the challenge of new players and possible ratings they may hand out instead of the hey your great because we are the same rank lol so good ratings all around
