Closed Maps

Just a quick question.
Why does CC close maps? If they're created, why not leave them open for play? I really enjoyed the 2010 Mens World Cup map a lot more than the women's, but we can't play it anymore and I see no time it would be brought back for a special event. Why not open any map that has been created?

some maps are accessible for a limited time only. Besides, you are not missing much, the map was heavely unbalanced

i don't think a lor of maps actually did get closed. except for the 2010 world cup and st patricks day, i can't name any map that got closed/removed.

easter and christmas also appear as closed on the list.

Why not refine it a little bit and make it a regular map? It doesn't seem like it would need much tweaking. The difference is the seasonal ones come back each year. This one never will.

Why not refine it a little bit and make it a regular map? It doesn't seem like it would need much tweaking. The difference is the seasonal ones come back each year. This one never will.
Because they don't go through the standard foundry process.

It can come back every time there's a World Cup...Just change the countries on the map.
