Please tell me this was an inside joke between the two of you...

That was in very poor taste.

I guess that depends on which country's military rank you refer to. In the Norwegian army, whose insignia are the ones I am familiar with, the "^" points downwards as in CC.

A little trivia for those who might be interested:
The Norwegian ranks are as follows: Private has no insignia, lance corporal had one "^" (this rank no longer excists), corporal two, sergeant three. Then it's one small golden star for second lieutenant, two for lieutenant, and three for captain. Major has one small golden star, lieutenant colonel has two and colonel three stars, all with a golden tresse ( i.e. a line on each side of the star). Brigadeer has one big silver star, major general two, lieutenant general three and general four, all with a golden tresse. There are only two 4 star generals in Norway; the Chief of the Armed forces and the King.

How cool wouldn't it be if the very highest ranking player on CC was titled King? 8)

Perhaps. But his profile lists his occupation as terrorist so I thought I would just check. And yeah, I was joking.

The Air Force has upside-down chevrons... But yes I do think that for captain and up we should use the right isignias, granted nobody in our international community objects...

/edit- sorry lieutenant and up, and sargeant should be changed to 3 chevrons, 2 is just corporal, unless of course you're USMC, in which case 2 is Lance Corporal.

Well glad to hear that you are now a Christian ;)

Anyway, the ranks are on each persons post, they used to be displayed in the member list but when I upgraded the forum that went away.

Jesus Christ!(all pun intended) I never want to go to that forum again..

I learned some valuable lessons from all of this:

1. Don't stray away from the flock.
2. Sin is bad. Baaaaad.
4. People who don't know God don't realize how rough it is to not have Him in their lives.

You could give Caleb and his 'followers' a run for their money...

I wonder about the apparent Commission one receives from the Non-commissioned ranks.

I guess different countries, different hierarchy.

As far as I know from Royal New Zealand Army rank structures, NCO ranks are:

Private
Lance Corporal or Lance Bombadier
Corporal or Bombadier
Sergeant
Staff Sergeant
Warrant Officer 2nd Class
Warrant Officer 1st Class

And that's the highest rank you'll reach as an NCO.

For Commissioned Officers:

Officer Cadet
2nd Lieutenant
Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Lieutenant Colonel
Colonel
Brigadier
Major General
Lieutenant General

N.B. There is no rank for General in our small scale army lol. The highest ranking army officer I know of is our Chief of Defence Forces, Major General J. Mateparae.

Perhaps the rank structure of CC is rather unique in that it mixes NCO ranks with Officers ranks. In any case, I'm still a pleeb in rank so far so it hasn't affected me yet lol.

Ha, New Zealand doesn't have anyone above Maj. Gen. in their armed forces.

Heh, all in good fun.

lol, we're a bit small as a nation for anything higher than that

I think if we were committed to a war, we'd come under an alliance with some other nation's General in charge of our armies

You'd probably end up being commanded by Britain, seeing as you got that whole commonwealth thing going on for you. Seriously though. You never hear about any commonwealth nations in WWII, even though Canada had it's own beach at Normandy and Australia had quite a major role in the Pacific. But no, it's all about Britain. Damn English.

Ain't that the truth :)

More on topic, though...
I've read a couple of posts from seasoned CC vets who have wondered whether it might be a good idea to incorporate some additional ranks before General; not just to make the rise to General more of a challenge - the challenge inherent in attaining the rank is daunting as it is - but I thought that it would be pretty good to have other ranks to aspire to at lower point levels, which would also make the rank of General even more elite. Perhaps even bump up the points requirement for making General.

I dunno, sounded good in my head lol
