I've recently witnessed a style of attack I find unusual. How common is it for players to use up all their armies on conquests, for the sake of having the maximum of territories, but leaving nothing to defend with. I've been in a couple of games these past few days in which people attack til they have one army on all territories, including front lines.

yeah, I've been in games like that, and it puzzles me, too. But early in the game, it is often not a bad tactic, I've found, since many times your enemies won't have enough armies to make you really pay for it. I played in a team game where my teammate did this early, and I freaked out. We ended up winning that game because he basically hit the opponents before they were prepared for it and continued to take more each turn than he lost. It was pretty cool. I think, however, that this is a tactic that is probably only very useful against inexperienced players. I imagine that you'd get smoked if you tried that with a group of more experienced players since they'd probably all gang up on you for being greedy.

Aye it is usually one of the stupidest tactics and usually it is n00bs who suffer the most. I believe the post above is an anomalie. I had a teammate do that in a game too but he only took one turn and then fucked off with loads of one army territories. Just remembering it makes me angry...
