Conquer Club

I am playing in some doubles games with a partner that's a friend of mine and I told him I didn't think we should play together in standard games with a bunch of strangers because it could lead to outside the chatroom discussion of the game. Am I being overly concerned or is this sort of thing pretty normal?

Well it all depends. If you play dozens of standard games, and in each of the games it is clear that you and your partner are purposely attacking the other players before attacking each other, then it is frowned upon. But if you guys play in the same game and actually play against each other as if you didn't know him, then it is fine

I guess its hard to play as if you don't know each other. The one game we played together we didn't make any agreements, but we cut each other a little more slack than we might normally. If this is within the generally accepted bounds than great.

I've played numerous games against my doubles partners, but I've always managed to keep friendship apart from the game I was playing. It's like keeping work and your private life separate from each other. You work for your points, your private gaming shouldn't have anything to do with it.

It's fun to beat your a dubs/trips/quads partner.

Just play the game legit.

My doubles partner (TheCrown) is a general, and its always fun to play 1v1 on any map, especially Waterloo, since we play tons of games on that map.

It doesn't hurt that I'll get like 60 points each time I beat him

Oh we eventually slugged it out, but if we won't treat each other like we don't know each other, I'm best off playing team games. I don't want to do anything that's not totally above board.

People tend to favor friends whether they intend to or not. I recommend staying out of multiple player games with those you partner with. If you both really want to play against each other stick to 1v1.

What jefjef said sounds like wisdom. I don't play much 1vs1 against my teampartners. It happens, e.g. when we both sighed up for the same tournament, but usually I avoid even that. Its not that I dont like my friends, but they know me so well, they are bound to suicide into me or i might just win It can go 2 ways, either way you are influenced so you'd do yourself a pleasure and avoid the possible embarecment, harrasment and negative concequences
