Maybe you could take a look around the Map Foundry wher all the maps, map making guide and guidelines are findable.

have fun and remember, all good things come to those who wait so remember making a map is a long term project

Hey, here's the Map Making Handbook, an announcement under the Foundry's Tool's Tutorials, and Guides sections.

To quote the Handbook,
Mapmaking Handbook wrote:
    1. SMALL MAP: WIDTH up to 630 px; HEIGHT 600 px
    2. LARGE MAP: WIDTH up to 840 px ; HEIGHT 800 px.
    3. SIZE DIFFERENTIAL: A large map must be noticably larger than their small map; 9% larger is required but 33.3% (1/3rd) is recommended.
    4. NOTE: Mapmakers are encouraged to make their large maps smaller than the maximum size limits when possible to eliminate scrolling to attack/read the sidebar info.

Read the rest of the post, too, for more information on how to develop maps and the map process. Also, to get you started, if you have an idea or a draft, post in the Melting Pot: Map Ideas or Drafting Room forum respectively. Good luck with what you're doing! Seeya,
