Game Chat

so i'm just curious...about how much game chat should you have during a team game (i mean between your team members)...i'm in this game, and every time its my turn, my partner writes me a novel on what i should do...personally, i find this rather annoying, because it takes forever to wade through, and a lot of it is no longer applicable anyway...what do you guys think?

I really enjoy chatting with the people I am playing with. Takes the "seriousness" out of the game and makes it a bit more relaxing. Have made a few doubles and triples partners out of chatting, as well as a couple of groups for private games.

let them know if it annoys you.

Give advice if the person wants it, OR if you have a really good idea you think they may have overlooked, but don't make a habit out of it.

I think that in terms of the actual game play, just enough that is needed. A plan, request, ect. If you are talking about socializing, then as much as you want.

Oh...well even then I enjoy chat. Yeah we talk mostly about strategy, with an odd conversation about nothing in particular. Depends if it's a freestyle or sequential game. Freestyle usually no time to small talk.

Pfft, can't stand those people!

You know what's worse? the complainers... jeez. They're never happy!
*makes fake sobbing noises*
"My partner doesn't communicate..."
*further sniffles*
"My partner writes a small treatise discussing strategy, each round! Oh, woe is me!"

Well Miss S. Xkitten, perhaps we should be happy with what we have for the grass isn't always greener on the other side of that fence. Personally, I like to sync with my 'partner' but I guess you prefer to sink, seperately.

You know what? I bet your new talkative partner ends up earning you a nice stash of points. The value of words should not be underestimated... Lo, was not it once said (on an episode of the Simpsons, I believe), "The pen is mightier than the sword!"

*goes off on a tangent* Hmm... that must be the other way around, surely? Unless, of course, you're like really fast and can stab your opponent in the eye. *ponders*

In summary, people that write too much suck!
Who's with me?

If you want to win, discussing possible attack routes, fort points and trading armies is essential in team games. If you are resigned to not winning, then I suppose less strategy talk is acceptable. Personally, I want as much info from my parter as I can get. Perhaps he/she notices a trend in another person's attacks that can be used to your benefit.
