So when I re-join a game, I'm always trying to remember what I was thinking when I last left the game. Is there any way I could leave myself notes inside each different game?

Yes. In the game chat, click "note to self" and thats a private note

well that was obvious but thank thank you none the less. I felt weird writing strategy right on the chat, but I'm sure I will get used to it.

Yes, sorry. DIdn't know if you were already aware of that.

But other than that, there is no way to leave notes to yourself

You can send yourself a PM also, but I use note to self all the time

ingame there is the note to self, or you can use a document like excell to track your various games

Have we ever considered some sort of resource cap feature? Where territories can only sustain a certain amount of troops before there is a loss due to lack of resources? Kind of like the Napoleon map variant in Russia but applicable to any game. I'll admit it would hinder the stacking strategy a bit.

Something like this is being suggested right now. However, I personally favor no limit to stacking.

Antarctica almost entirely consists of territories where you loose 1 troop a turn on a stack. So leaving 1’s (which cannot loose troops) is the best, and stacking means you actually loos troops..
If anything it tends to make sure you do not leave a lot of 2’s….
