A question about game chat

My question is with regard to a four player game.
One of the other three players was playing well, and slowly taking over the board, while the other three of us essentially let him by fighting each other.

I could see that the eventual winner would win if we didnt start attacking him, and tried to get the others to do so, but that didnt happen.

Unbeknownst to me, the winner had given me a poor fair play rating and had posted game chat to the effect that me trying to rally the others to attack him was not fair play.

I'm positive it is fair play, as long as the comments are made in game chat, and not secretly.
Am I right or wrong?

It is perfectly acceptable in the rules to work with another player, or even forge an alliance with them. As long as you make the alliance/proposal in Game Chat.

Your actions were correct, you did well. A pity that player took it personally and rated you this way. And this rating cannot be removed. But as long as you negotiate in chat - it should be all good. If he starts arguing with you or complaining - you can always talk to him or involve on of the moderators if he starts abusing the game.

Yea, you're good as far as gameplay goes. The guy is just being a turd. It would be nice if you could contest any unjust ratings but most of us have just accepted that every once and a while you will play a vindictive person and will have ugly marks on your game ratings, no matter how stellar your attitude/gameplay is.

Sympathetically,
