I hate unclosed brackets. They mess up my programming, unless using TI.

who cares about points anyway? it's just a game meant for having fun. if you can't have fun while playing it then why play it at all?

Wrong!

It would go here: {(hows[this.for](you[?]))}

"you" is obviously an array with the index "?" so the closing ) parenthesis cannot come before the array index.

Yes and no.

Once you get those high ranks, it is hard to not care about points.

I agree. Like any game, what makes it fun is winning, and winning=points. ;)

I have a feeling that the rank thing has a lot to do with self-esteem tbh, especially with those who decide to bend the rules to get ahead. Games are intended for entertainment. Y'all are saying that if you don't win you don't derive any fun from it? I suppose there are two types of players then; those who have fun all the time and those that only have fun half the time or less. I think the term for someone who doesn't have fun when they lose is a Poor Sport.

That's fairly harsh. I think the term for someone who thinks winning is fun is competitive. A poor sport is someone who makes excuses for losing or gets angry about it. How can you not think winning is funner than losing?

i never understood why players care how other players play as long as it is within the rules...let people play the games they enjoy

I'm not saying that all high ranks are in it for their ego but some are and they know who they are. I'm also not suggesting that winning isn't more fun than losing, of course it is. I'm saying that winning doesn't have to be the only enjoyable part of playing a game.
As far as the definition of a Poor Sport, it is someone who isn't sporting in their nature. Only having fun when you win is a characteristic that falls under this definition. You showed an example of a sore loser, that's not the same thing. A Poor Sport is a much more general and intrinsic term.
