Bookmarking/Subscribing a topic

Can anyone tell me the difference between those 2 functions?

bookmarking allows you to find a thread easily via your Control Panel

subscibing does too but it also sends you an email when a reply is posted, every time one is posted.

What greenoaks said is correct.
My personal observation, it looks like the square is already vinked off (a big V??) (to be found at the bottom of the page) However this is not the case, so standard you do not have bookmarks and subscriptions. Logical, but worth mentioning

a non active subscription is a square witha big V through it. an ACTIVE subscription has a small x inside the square...

the non active bookmark is the link asking you to [bookmark topic], to disable this press [remove from bookmarks ]
