Feedback Conundrum

Help all - I have played over 50 games here and have left 39 positive feedbacks. I try to leave feedback with folks who really impressed me or stuck with tough situations and deserve it. Admittedly, I haven't left negative feedback for anyone, despite seeing a few who might deserve it.

On the flip side, I only have 13 comments left for me. They are all positive, and I believe I am a good player who is polite, never deadbeats and mostly a challenge to play. I've won over 15 of the games I've played.

Why do you think I'm having such a difficult time getting feedback? In the end, I guess, it doesn't matter much, but I do scratch my head and wonder if I'm doing something wrong...

Thanks,

Arkobla

That's just the way it is. I have played in over 80 games so far, I have only 8 feedback. What might also be the problem is that people don't want to give you feedback just because you gave them feedback. But don't worry about it. Sounds like your doing good :D

i understand where your coming from...I have played well over 200 games and have won almost 60 of those and i only have 13 positive comments, unfortunately i have one negative from a member that accused me and someone else of cheating but whatever...i wouldnt worry too much about it

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Thirteen comments for over 50 games played sounds about right to me -- par for the course. And the fact that you haven't gotten any negative feedback is a _good_ thing.

If you're expecting feedback everytime you play a game I think you'll be disappointed, because in my experience it doesn't work that way.

I used to leave more feedback when I played fewer games (before premium), but now I notice I leave less feedback.

I leave negative feedback for deadbeating and chronically missing turns.

I leave negative feedback for someone I suspect of cheating or playing so poorly I think others need to be warned about it.

I will leave negative feedback for abusive language and personal attacks, but thankfully this hasn't happened yet.

I leave positive feedback for partners if it is deserved.

I leave positive feedback to those players who don't have a lot of feeback (probably because they are new) if it is deserved.

I leave positive feedback for those players who have negative feedback, but I had a positive experience with, but again, only if it's deserved.

I leave positive feedback for someone who I think played extraordinarily well.

For a player "who is polite, never deadbeats and [is] mostly a challenge to play," I'm probably not going to leave feedback. I expect the same from others in the games I play. That is, I don't think I'm going to get feedback for essentially not doing anything wrong.

I leave more feedback than I receive.

I pretty much only look at negative (and neutral) feedback for the players I play against. Sometimes the positive feedback can give you insights into their style of play, strategy, etc., but there's usually too much to read.

Negative feedback that describes someone who uses abusive language or engages in personal attacks is sufficient to get me to pass oo playing with them (especially if I can verify the allegation in game chat). I dont enjoy being around such people.

In conclusion, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Keep up the good play. Don't expect feedback for behaving well. Actually, it's a good thing we don't get feedback for behaving well because it indicates that that is the normal, expected thing here at CC. I suspect that over time especially if you start playing many more games simultaneously, you will begin to leave less feedback. It's natural, nothing wrong with that.

However, if a new recruit or private plays well try to leave feedback because they havent' developed a reputation here yet.

positive feedback shouldn't just be used as a 'congratulations u finished the game without pissin me off'...... it should b commending someone particularly good

Playing realtime games with a myriad of players seems to garner the most positive feedbacks. Most of the players with insane feedback scores (100+) play a lot of realtime.

never expect feedback, never ask for feedback never act as if you desperately want feedback, just play your best and behave well and people will give you feedback :)

PS: one interesting thing is that i have 2 positive feedbacks both for games i've lost :)
i must be a good loser :P

Or if you're blitzaholic you get positive feedback because people suck up to you.

Participation in game chat is key also, especially in realtime games. Play it like you're across from someone at a table and add some colorful conversation to the mix. Someone already said it, but don't go around asking for it ... it'll just happen.

I find feedback, either here or on ebay to be pointless. Many people don't give negative feedback in case they get retaliatory feedback, and even if you have legitimate grievances, they'll just be reacted to by a petty response by the recipient

I actually disagree...I do agree that the actual numbers mean nothing in and of themselves....Fireside and I have more FBs than anyone, but that doesnt make us the two nicest people on the site....just active ones that leave good feedbacks....and ive left more than anyone, by far....and you cant take every negative one seriously either...however...if there are many feedbacks that say the same thing, it can serve as a warning, and allow you to avoid a player if you dont like what others say about them...

But where feedback comes into play, is really keeping people a little more restrained....they know if they dont act politely, someone can call them on it, and share it with everyone....granted not all players care about this...but typically they end up with double digit negative feedbacks...so when you go to enter a game with them, you at least know what you could be in for....I think without any system to give feedback, people would be far more likely to complain about petty things more often, use abusive language, and maybe even enter into secret alliances more often, since the primary weapon against those is feedback

the problem with it, is that it cant be taken litterally...people give some stupid feedbacks for some stupid things....Ive gotten at least one for just having good dice and alot of feedback...luckilly the guy was a good guy, and removed it, but ive seen many of the best most respectable players with a few negative feedbacks that are just absolutely ridiculous....most of those players that left them are on my ignore list, as they are on many i suspect

what you leave for feedback can be as much an indicator of what kind of a player you are as what you have

Well I'll leave you some feedback, you just dead beated on your team. This totally screws the game as it is no spoils. So 7 players have to suck it up because you decided to join and didn't come to the party in a quads game. What do you think my rating will be Arkobla Conn???

86

A lot of older players just don't bother because, well.. truth is there have been a lot of changes and the new feedback system, in particular, just does a poor job of representing anyone.

Beyond that, a lot of premiums either don't leave feedback at all because its just a pain or leave it only for wins (that would be me) because its just too much hassle to search out the losses when you have 50+ completed games.
