hey. I wanted to hear the general opinion about an issue i encountered a few times since i play on conquerclub.

i prefer fog of war, flat cards and adjacent fortifications.

following the discussion from my last game (some of the colors are changed for better readability)

Pink is crazy strong right not. 3 big armies; 18 in Nagasaki, 20 in naruto, and 10 in Okayama.Gonna get 2 bonuses plus a drop on the next turn. It might be too late but the rest of us need to coordinate to survive the coming onslaught.
i will do what i can but am in the north
i took fuki and knocked nagasaki down to three if someone can capatilize now is the time
Good work. I took the Shikoku bonus.
i have taken nagasaki and fukui
come on guys! why have you stopped to report everything about me? the others may be interested to know your achievements! thanks for your FAIR play
I'm sorry you are upset pink, but there was nothing unfair about our play. Are we just supposed to roll over and die? We're not reporting anymore because things have evened out and you are on longer enemy #1.
I have had an argument before about reporting on players pieces on fog of war, but people could be giving you misinformation based on all the risk ive played its all part of the stragey of the game. politics baby
by the way yellow has a huge army in yamagata 33 hes been stock piling while we duked it out now whos enemy #1
ok thanks for the explanations. I just think that nothing should be reported in a fog of war game...anyway let's continue the game and have fun!
agree with pink
......

in my opinion it's ok to spread information.

1. diplomacy is part of the game
2. information sharing is part of diplomacy
3. in fog of war deception is important
a) the information provided doesn't have to be true
b) keeping your armies at the boarders gives you a strong attack and defense, but reveals your strenght (another interesting conflict of interests)

what you think?

It's fully permitted within the rules.

Some players don't like it, and some are fine with it. It's a gray area in terms of whether or not you'll piss someone off, but you can totally do it if you like.

yes, but it is a problematic gray area cause people join the game with different expectations. they actually believe it's a rule not to share information or act diplomatic in FoW. In a current game of mine different opinions exist. completely ok, not at all or in between.
it happened then that one player got angry and suicided into the opponent, which provided the exact (?) troop numbers in bordering provinces. that's in any case even worse then sharing intelligence!
from now on i will message the people who join my games to clarify the rules. that's the best i can do for now.

Exact numbers is just as okay as any other information shared.

If you're concerned, always put a question at the START of the game about it, polling people. Don't do it midway through, people will assume you have a reason to ask, and asking alone can provide them with information.

Also you could use this information to throw off your opponent if you are dispensing the information, either true OR false.
If you are the one listening and not posting in the chat, you could use this against EITHER player/team.

I feel that this type of communication should be declared immediately at the start of the game.
If in the middle of the game, the whole game changes...
