1v1 maps

Anyone got any good 1v1 maps? I'm trying some out. My usual map aor2 is starting to affect me. Too dice-oriented. I'll only play 4 man on it. So anybody got some good 1v1 maps that I can try out? Those like extreme global warming, Australia and Africa are out cuz if the opponent goes first he breaks your territory bonus.

try the feudals

i really like new world. it is similar to the aor & feudals as you have separated starting positions

same with the christmas map

Kings Chord is cool to.

But 1vs1 is always dice orientated if both players know what they're doing.

Feudal war only, i'm afraid. The Feudal epic is more dice related in 1v1 (IF 2 players know what they are doing). New world is also a map you'd wanna go first on.

Feudal war, imo, can counter both bad first turns, and going second. Play with fog ;)

I've heard that Das Schloß is a good map for 1v1, because you got a pretty equal shot at victory. You can overcome the dice with the loads of troops you get from autodeploy. And beginning the game doesn't necesarrily help you, especially since it's an objective map (don't even think about eliminating the other player, you'll lose for sure).

Personally I like arms race--some would say it is total dice but I would completely disagree with them.

I almost only play 1vs1---and I've been fond of: most of the USA Map Pack Regions, Haiti, Madagascar, Macedonia, Germany. The last two are probably my favorite.

Forbidden City: Seq, Auto, Esc, Chained, No Fog (15-4)

Classic: Seq, Manual, Esc, Unlimited, No Fog (15-6)

The manual part is key in the Classic games.
Ljex agrees... probably one of the best ways to ensure a win in 1v1.

I may stick to the old ways like wet toilet paper to your shoe, but I like Classic. For sequential games, at least.
Probably just because it's unlikely that the second person to play will have fewer than 12 regions, and that no single strategy/bonus will win every given game.

But I thought in manual seq, the first guy to move wins?

Only if there are two smart and experienced players going against each other.

And, if that's happening, the luckier player will win in any automatic game, anyway.

The trick with manual seq is that some players don't know to place all their troops on 1 tert, and to drop on a tert that connects to a lot of enemy terts.

A lot of times, an inexperienced player will deploy their stack in an area that will block them from the enemy stack. They will be forced to only attack a couple of 1s, and then fort. Then, the experienced player, who was unlucky to go 2nd, will still get to hit the opponent's stack.

It's all about placement of your own stack, which involves anticipating where your opponent will place his.

the only tournament i have won was a manual, seq on Classic - best of 5 for the final

my opponent stacked on 1 terit in all 5 games, i did the all on 1 terit for 2 games and won 1 of them

i couldn't decide where to stack on the other 3, got really drunk and passed out so got auto-deployed 3's to every terit. i beat him 2-1 on those games

my point is multiple stacks can beat a single stack and i have a trophy to prove it :D

so basically I have to place all my troops in one place where I have access to a lot of enemy terts... Normally I only play fs with manual but I'll give it a shot. Fld. Mshl. Rhiley's strategy is for noobs to waste their stack attacking, and he can swoop in for the kill
