Announcing Troops and Location in Fog of War

I was recently playing a game on Classic map and took North America.
One of the other players announced on the chat how many I had and at which location - meaning that he could attack through this route rather than a route that was heavily fortified.
Although I went on to win the game, I still found this distasteful as it is a fog of war game for a reason.
I look forward to receiving comments.
Thanks

I think a number of users on Conquer Club come down on either side of this. Some prefer not to play with those that reveal any information in Fog of War---thinking it goes against the spirit of the game. Other see information/misinformation leaking as a viable strategy to keep the game and their opponents in check. This is where the Foes List can be handy.

It is legal, but highly frowned upon. It can also be used as a deceitful tactic, as the other players don't know if you're telling the truth or not.

Fair point - I wouldnt do it myself just want to know the rules. It's kind of pointless playing fog of war if this is the case.
Never mind - no harm done and fair ratings left.

It irks me when someone says there's no point in playing fog because of it. Like drunkmonkey said, you could totally lie about shit. In all honesty, when I know someone does get a big bonus, or has a large stack, I call it out.

I feel like it can be appropriate when other members are completely inept at reading the game log and discerning the information for themselves. In Classic if someone gets +2 for holding X or +5 for holding Y it's pretty easy to discern where they are - you can either see someone else in that territory or know their territory count and know they can or cannot hold all of NA but could be holding Europe, etc. But really I'd do it if other players were stupid, so I guess I do it to chastise someone's play than to manipulate a move. Really on the right settings it doesn't behoove too much to reveal locations, like fog escalating.
You should do team fog, 2v2 or 3v3 which is more fun because you don't need to worry about that and can have the benefits of a fog game.

Thanks for the info guys - The game log is common sense really but didnt think it was etiquette to announce that i only had 4 on 1 border and 5 on the other 2 borders. It's fair to say he became my number one target to eliminate..... but thats his risk.
