[Feedback Requested] Game layout

Do you prefer that we move game settings and your spoils above the map?
The reasoning: This data does not change very often so it is more convenient to have the action buttons closer to the map.

P.S. If you have any strategic advice for me in this game, I would appreciate some help

I wouldn't mind the game settings moved to the top, but I like to have the spoils below the map so I can check who owns what in BOB.

Can't you still do that if spoils are just above?

I agree completely.
I also want to point out that this topic will get more traffic if what appears to be a link to it in the Headlines is fixed. I don't know where that link goes, but I am not authorized to read that forum.

Yes, but it involves more mouse movement. With BOB, the spoils are active: you can hover over them to inspect where they are, so it's nice to move just a little bit from the Action area to the spoils. With the proposed move, you have to track all the way up the screen. In fact, with some maps, I scroll the top of the map out of view because it has only title information and no territories. That way, I can also see things below the Action area, like statistics.

Pardon the double post, but here is a counter-suggestion: there is an icon in the players list to the right of the map which shows how many spoils you have. Why not make the details of the spoils a tool tip for that? Hover over your own spot, and you can see what you have. It would also be easy to provide information about teammate spoils this way.

I like it below because I don't want to keep scrolling down to view the actual map. But then again, I use clickies so the argument about the "action buttons" is mute to me.
Counter suggestion: Leave things as they are and make clickies standard on the site.

Clickable maps are something different than all of this.

And it is currently in development

Anything that moves the map and the buttons closer together is a plus for me when I play on the Iphone. I do use BOB when on my PC and I don't see the spoils being on top being a big issue - I would probably check them at the start of my turn but wouldn't have to look back frequently... I'm capable of memorizing upwards of 5 things at a time. Just my 2 cents.

How about putting [ ] around the troop numbers if you have that spoil. Then it would not matter where the spoils are located. Add another option where the large map button is at to include the option spoils on top or bottom with default of bottom.

This change makes sense. Make it so!

Moving the attack buttons closer is a great idea. I would suggest that you go a step further and move the player info on the right, to the top as well. None of that info over there is viewed as much during the game, as the map and action buttons are. The same goes for all of that menu stuff on the left.
The monitor screen should be filled with the game that you are playing. All other info should be available with the scroll.
If you have to have anything to the right or left of the map, it should be the action buttons.

I'd say leave them where they are, that way all the relevant info - spoils, game settings, opponents territories & reinforcements are in the same place. If you want to move somerhing to the top move the player info it doesn't matter ingame.

Is it so hard to allow us to choose where to have the spoils in the ucp?

I like anything that puts the action buttons closer to the map - some maps are very big vertically. Could the other info move below the buttons to alleviate some of the concerns for people who use add-ons?

Yes, I like this. I would also love to see icons added to the line of Game type... because it is extremely hard to read right now.

As a few other people have mentioned Action buttons closer to map = good. Those buttons get used multiple times per turn. The stuff you're talking about moving up is stuff that you (or, at least I) only check once before each turn. Having that info above the map would actually be more convenient than their present location 'cause when you go to take your turn you could check it before scrolling down a little to look at the map and play.

I don't like the proposed layout and if implemented please let there be a option of top of bottom like the game stats

This I agree with.

That wouldn't work for my style of playing CC at all. I rely on the fact that the settings are right next to the Begin Turn button (both on my computer and my Droid) so that I can remind myself "yeah, this one's No Spoils, that one is Assassin". And spoils are sometimes in the same category. Having them above the Big Map would mean a lot of scroll up if I wanted to check settings.

I don't like the proposed change at all. Didn't we already go through this recently anyway? I don't want to have to scroll up past the map to see what cards I have, or what the settings are. For premium players who are playing a lot of games ("a lot" being purely subjective; some consider 8 a lot) it can be difficult to keep track of individual games, so having all the pertinent information right by the action buttons is a big deal. At least it is for me.
I'd suggest instead of forcing the change, make it an option, so those who want it can move it, and those who like it where it is can leave it. I also think there are probably better things to work on than changing minor layout issues like this. (though for me, if you changed it, it would not be a minor thing, it would greatly decrease my enjoyment, much like the last attempt at change for change's sake)

I disagree he's trying to change this just to change it. I think he's trying to find out the optimum way to include teammate spoils. I appreciate his efforts and polling the community.
That said, I also agree that programming new options is better than making a forced change.

I do not like it big or small...I do not like this not at all...
I remember a while back when you first put stats in. It was up there. I really didn't like it. It's nice to keep everything grouped together. From top to bottom: Map, then everything else that's fine the way it is.
Also, here's a question-
If I press the 'jump to map' hotkey in clickies, will if jump to the map to where I can't see my spoils? That would be a HORRIBLE inconvenience because I jump from the game chat to the map a lot in speed games.

It would be up to the Clickable Maps developer to tweak the add-on to do what CM users want.
