Could some body please explain how simultaneous play is resolved in the freestyle type of game?

I understand take your turn when you like but not 'back to back', its the two or more 'playing' at the same time part.

TIA

yes quite simply more than one person can take a go at any one time so you need to ensure that you are careful with deployment

Yes I get that.

So what happens when 2 (or more) attack each other at the same time?

e.g. A with 5 in country 1 attacks B with 5 on country 2 as B does the same to A
or if B was to use those 5 oln country 2 to attack a 3rd country, at the same time

i.e. What is the order of resolution of overlapping events if both instructions are entered at the same time?

I believe that the site can't really receive two attack orders at the same instant, but if it did happen I believe it would randomly pick one.

It could also possibly delete the internet in such a case or destroy all mankind in an outrageous fiery explosion. Since it is highly unlikely two people with the exact same latency with the site exist and would be in a game together attempting your scenario and able to enact it successfully we will probably never know.

True very unlikely to recieve both instructions at the same time, and heaven forbid the internet be destroyed....

Hoabout this then:
A attacks B and wins
However B is thinking about her move and has a map that shows the state of play before A's success. She then attacks A from that same country which A thinks belongs to him.

How is this resolved?

Player B gets a "illegal move" notification and the map is refreshed with the current data.

So in freestyle, when you decide to take your move...get on with it and don't hesitate and think...is this what we are saying?

Yes, once you see that another player also started his turn, you should be very carefull with every move you do.
So it is a good idea that if you want to think about your next move, that you refresh the map from time to time, so you can see it when someone else enters the game.

Actually if you two people attack at the same time, it has the effect of crossing the streams.

or collect your aries and then wait for those playing simultaneously finish attaking then hit them with a counter attack before they fortify.

Been there, done that,

In the span of a mouse click my 60 army and the other person's 72 army was reduce to: Me 2, Him 1.

That was probably him clicking the auto-attack and finishing on 3 and you on a bit more, and you clicking auto-attack just a while later and thus finishing on 2-1.

Since it was down to just the two of us, it made for a wicked fast and nasty endgame as we both were trying to attack and fortify simultaneously.

I love those real time freestyle games - unfortunately they rarely happen unless you manage to organise one. That is why I recently switched to sequential. Realtime freestyle involves loads of strategy and tactics in terms of timing but if it is not rt, it often about luck and who logs in the most :)
