Just A Thought

hey guys,
i'm quite new to this site so sorry if what i say seems stupid or it's been discussed before. i'm loving the game. the only problem i have is that i find the "advance" rule seems to make the game quite unrealistic, esp when played using excalating spoils. it's possible to sweep the entire board from one starting poin in a single turn. i think most will agree that this simply couldn't happen in real life. i know it's only a game but still.

anyway, when me and friends used to play the risk board game we would use a rule that meant you couldn't advance any troops after your initial attack. so for example if you attacked iceland from GB, you couldn't advance all 20 troops you'd just recieved in spoils and take the whole of North America in 1 go. You could still attack other countries from GB though. then, at the end of your attacks, you could re-inforce, again only re-inforcing to territories directly next to the one you were re-inforcing from.

this lead to a much longer and more tactically involved game that didn't simply rely on the luck of recieving 30 spoils in one go and ending the game. it also lead to much greater numbers of troops on the board which lead to mammoth battles for supremacy in certain areas which could often take many rounds to resolve.

i was just wondering if it would be possible to play the game on the site like this? is this a known form of the game that is simply not used here because of time restraints? or is it available and i've just missed it? or am what i am saying completely stupid and i should just shut up before i embarass myself further?

anyway, thanks for reading

you should go to the suggestions forum, fill out the form and seek input from other players that agree and disagree with you... good luck.-the black jesus

Your suggestion sounds similar to (but not exactly like) Adjacent Attacks (check the suggs forum for it). Though I think AA is in suggestion Purgatory (it's been in "Submitted suggestions" for a while now).

I stay away from escalating and flat rate at all costs though. No spoils is a lot slower.
