Thanks for the feedback so far!

Based on your feedback, I added min and max buttons. We also have another type of picker developed by Dako to vote on. Please vote assuming the picker will be in effect always - not just for large amounts.

If Dako's version---Version C, had min and max buttons on either side of the slider, I'd probably dance bananas.

I would like to repeat what I said in the previous thread:

You have already made the code for all of them, so why not let people choose which they prefer as a setting?

That way everyone can be happy.

Awesome improvement. I would say that version C is the better, since I think that drag the arrow is a more natural movement than clicking the arrow of version B. Anyhow, both of them, and due to the box to write number of troops, are way too superior than the option A. Keep doing these improvements!

I like version c the best, but you could improve it if you could click on the line and it would auto adjust to whatever amount of troops that would be

Yes, that is possible. Also, when you type into inbox the slider should adjust as well, it should have been working in the version i sent to lack.

This makes perfect sense to me. Default with one of them, but have the option.

Can we see what Version C looks like for a small number of troops (10)?

Oh, god, not version C. (No offense!) A slider is much worse than a listbox if you only have a small number of choices. I can see how C would be better for some of the maps with really large bonuses, where precision is less important (who cares if you accidentally drop 399 somewhere instead of 400), but it would be a nightmare for "normal" maps, where you need 1 army here, 2 armies there, 4 more over there, etc. It would be especially painful for speed games on those maps.

The text box in C makes up somewhat for the imprecision of the slider, but you have to switch back and forth between mouse/keyboard to use it, which is awkward and annoying because every other action requires mouse only. Listbox is only two clicks if you're getting less than 15-20 armies; can't do much better than that. And even if you're getting a large amount, scrolling the listbox is only slightly more annoying than dragging the slider.

Listbox and slider might be the best of both worlds. Or maybe even combobox + slider.

You do know with C you can also type a number you want to drop in the box.

Both A & C scroll so there isn't a drastic difference between them
so I have no problem with either one. But B is a big change.

I like the slider, but with this slider you can loose focus very easily. If I click on it and move it to the end (and over) quite fast, I expect it to hit the max, but in this example it's usually quite a bit lower. Kinda annoying.

Unless you move it slowly it will always loose focus. Or it needs some extra wrap space where it will not loose focus.

Hmm, I don't think that's true. Though it's heavy to use, if you look at the slider demo of jquery UI ( http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/#hotelrooms ), you'll see that you can just hold the click and move anywhere on the page, and if you're in range the slider will move along.

The slider feels a bit sticky to me... it only seems to slide if I make sure the cursor doesn't leave the blue line. If it were implemented as the slider on Dako's link, then I'd be happy with it (if min/max buttons were also included).

Option 2 feels a bit clumsy with so many buttons.. Could you make it so that a double click on one of the forward/back buttons zoomed to min/max.

As an aside, will you be using the same sliders at the fortification stage?
