Assassin question

Hello!

I'd like to know if an 8-player assassin game is necessarily comprised of a single chain that includes all 8 players, like
A->B->C->D->E->F->G->H->A, or if there may be more than 1 chain in the game, for instance, A>B->C->D->A and E->F->G->H->E?

In other words, if you draw a line from one player to its target and so on, do you necessarily make an octagon or can you make two separate squares (or maybe one triangle and one pentagon)?

no...always an octogon...otherwise if someone deadbeated you could have a very unlikely coincidence where you are your own target or some such business or that you and your target have each other.

Thank you!

What happens currently with regards to deadbeats in assassin games?

A->B->C->D->E->F->G->H->A

Let's say C deadbeats. B's target becomes D.

A->B->D->E->F->G->H->A

i also want to make the comment that there is always a circle, but the order inside that circle can be. a,b,c,d,
or d,b,c,a ect ect.. there is no fixed order prior to the game, but once the game starts it will remain the same order throughout the game.
