nobody has ever really been able to explain why it is that banned members can not use their inbox or other non-forum related CC activities. a forum violation should not affect aspects of CC that you have never been "busted" in. why shouldn't a forum banned member be able to use PM's to contact friends/clan members about games, tournaments, etc? it is laughable that members that violate the first rule of CC are allowed to buy right back in and have all their CC privileges instantly restored, while a member that violates forum rules has no access. the convicted multi has a negative effect on the entire site, the busted forum user is in an area where less than 3% of CC users ever visit!!! i know that the claim is that the operating system is not able to make this possible, but i'm sure there is some way or something that could be done to alleviate this.-the black jesus

It's all tied to Forum related software. This issue impacts very few users on Conquer Club. ;) If you'd like to continue to discuss this, it is probably better suited for a new topic.

Welcome back, Ronc.

I hereby bait you to flame and post that which will result in immediate ban.
dont though...seriously...its so easy not to....

just type out everything you want to say, and dont hit submit....walk away, and voila, you feel great, you said your peace, and you go on to post another day. Some will call this cowardice, but in the end, the only winning move is sometimes not to play.

it was put into the suggestions forum, made absolute sense, and nothing was done about it. it doesn't matter how many members it affects. i am a paying customer that lost the ability to receive/read and send PM's due to a forum ban. i never did anything to abuse PM's, and it makes no sense. the fact that ONE paying customer may have an issue with something should be enough for CC to try and figure out how to make a change. it is a bit arrogant to assume that because so few are affected it doesn't matter. if that is the case, then why issue forum bans? if only less than 3% of CC'ers are possibly affected by another members behaviour, why bother? it isnt' that many people. fact remains that busted mulits are treated better than people that receive forum bans, and it just isn't right. i challenge you to not use PM's for one month andy and see how it affects your game play. i was/am a clan leader and that was an unbelievable hardship on my clan's activities... i can only imagine what it would be like if an admin or mod were unable to use PM's for any amount of time. again, the fact that it affects even ONE paying customer who has done nothing to abuse the PM system is enough to look for a solution.-the black jesus

p.s.-i don't think this is better suited for a new topic, i think it is a wonderful discussion. isn't this what the GD is meant for and not the overwhelming load of spam and off topic threads that it has become?

targetman377 wrote:if they could contact other members would that not just be the same as using the forms? well owen.

you are just daft. posting in the forums is not the same as sending someone a PM. if you can not send/receive PM's you can not participate in things like TOURNAMENTS and before the recent changes you were unable to send/receive game invites (thank goodness that has changed). what does a forum ban have to do with playing in a tournament? nothing, so why should it affect it? what does my sending jbrettlip a PM to start up some games or some ideas about what to do in a game have anything to do with posting in the forums? nothing, so why should it affect it?

if a member is busted for PM abuse, i can understand having their PM capabilities taken away. but if a member is banned from the forum, what does the ability to send/receive PM's have to do with it? targetman, you truly have no idea what you are stating. a forum ban isn't to keep you from contacting other members. if it were, you would not be able to post in live chat. one has nothing to do with the either and it should be resolved. again, busted multis are able to buy right back in after breaking the NUMBER ONE RULE OF THE SITE and they receive full rights and privileges to play as many games as they like, etc... a busted multi adversely affects the entire site and screws the scoreboard, not to mention the untold number of games he/she may be in that are then screwed and the members that lose points because of it...

a person that finally gets a forum ban is banned from a area that less than 3% of CC ever visits!!! of that 3% i doubt more than 1.5% have ever seen or read the offending members post!!! but somehow a forum banned user is treated more harshly than a busted multi. PM's have nothing to do with the forums, and a forum ban should not affect a members ability to enjoy the gaming aspects of the site.-the black jesus

p.s.-mpjh, you will be an admin one day because your solution to the problem is just about the least intelligent suggestion possible.

of course not, because you are being obtuse. the problem is plain to see and the solution is possible. forum banned members should be able to access PM's.-the black jesus

p.s.-i challenge anyone to go a week without using pm's and see how you feel about it after that. ronc wasn't banned for PM abuse, so why should he lose his ability to PM?

I challenge you to go a year without a ban, then for that year you will not have the problem. It is easy -- hundreds of cc players do it all the time, year-after-year. Try it.

i have gone a year without a ban before, you should try to speak about things you know. and again, you offer very little to the conversation other than attempts to antagonize and bait members (pretty much the norm with you). let me know when you are ready to act like an adult or maybe even like a member with a coloured name, and i'll look forward to your adding something of value and merit to the discourse. as it is, you are spamming up the thread with one line responses that are pointless. people have put forth good information and offered up their displeasure and confusion as to why these can not be separated. there have even been threads in the suggestions forum about this. the way that it works now simply does not make sense. a forum ban has nothing to do with PM's and forum banned members should be able to access PM's. period. you have not put forth a good argument contrary to that basic statement and CC has only stated that the software does not allow it. they have never stated that it is part of the disciplinary process. you can not argue these points, because they are all truth and the only thing you have are backhanded attempts at goading members into some sort of argument, because we all know that you are rarely punished for your juvenile baiting and taunting within the forums. if you want to continue to bait members, do it via PM and stop breaking forum rules.-the black jesus
