How long does it take to upload a Beta-approved new map?

Postby Raskholnikov on Tue Aug 03, 2010 6:39 am

It's been now over 10 days since Napoleon 1812 has received its Beta stamp. Is there any reason why it has still not gone live? I don't recollect any other map going much beyond a week between getting Foundry approval and being uploaded into the system.

this is a good question to put in the foundry. Unless you mean it as a general question?

No, that is not what I meant. What I mean is that more than 10 days have passed from obtaining the Beta stamp without the actual map being uploaded into the system and becoming playable - ie the map still does not exist, for all intents and purposes. This has nothing to do with the Foundry, but with the Site Administrators who have the power to upload maps.

How long a map remains in the Beta phase is an entirely different issue; that only arises after the map itself becomes playable - which is not the case here.

It can be days or it can be weeks... It all depends on lack's schedule. Foundry foremen forward the files to lack who uploads them on the site when he can. Sometimes he may be busy.

I remember a while back there was talk of a system where foundry mods could upload the maps themselves, but so far it hasn't been implemented... :-k

Thanks, That's what I thought. The foundry mods system sounds good to me, compared with relying on the availability of one person only...

Which is why there should be some kind of a back-up.... What happens if the turtle disappears for good?

Well since the turtle owns the site I think CC would go down so the fate of beta maps would be quite irrelevant...

That really makes no sense. Why should a business go down if the owner changes?

Lets not get too far offtopic lads and ladies. I invite you all to discus further, somewhere else.

locking this for now, due to the fact that the question is answered.

Q:How long does it take to upload a Beta-approved new map?
A: Only Lack does this, so it takes as long as it takes for Lack to get around to it. I imagine it will be done shortly.
