Any ideas on how to find players who have never played on a given map? I don't want to just choose players who have played a very few number of maps...

game finder, just put his name after ''With player" and put on the map(s) you want, you find all games, you also can use map rank (you can find it at tools forum)

Right, thebest712, I can find out if you (some given player) have ever played on map x, but how to find someone that has never played, short of going through some other list of names?

In other words, I could make up a list of players (pick some from the scoreboard for instance) and run each one through Game Finder (player name + map name) or map rank. Is there a way to just find player names by providing a map name? *And* I want the negative (players who have not played), which makes it harder.

you dont (find out, short of going though every name, at least i know of no such tool), and also this reeks like setting up people for pointwhoring... are you sure you want to proceed with this?

Crud. Didn't think about this being an opportunity for farming.

I'm hosting a tournament with the idea that everyone in the tourney will be new to a given map. I'm trying to recruit participants.

If you want some help in co-hosting, we could work down some names, although it would be done manual, so its a bit of work. However, as alternative; I suggest you let people sign on for the tournament, with the knowledge that they will have to play on a map they have never played before. The only person i know who cannot compete would be iron maid... 99.99% of the others have a bunch of maps they have never played... From those people we could work out a list of maps.. less work(still a lot though), much easer.

I'm not sure about how viable this tourney idea is. I'm trying to give it a good go, but I'm skeptical I can get enough interest. We'll see.

The idea appealed to me - I'd love to be able to have a chance at a new map without getting slammed by an experienced player. That happened to me on most new maps. That's one reason why I've enjoyed Das Schloss - as a beta map, most everyone was new to it.

I think the problem is finding that sweet spot, between people who are dedicated enough to play a tournament, but not so dedicated or experienced they've already played a map. That may create too small a pool of possibles to result in a good tournament.

This is becoming a tournament post, and that's not what I really intended. Plus now that I see that this idea (finding players who haven't played map x) does lead directly to farming, I'm not really keen on discussing it further in an open forum.

there is a user group called "map explorers" Might be a place to start looking... the be honest 99% of CC players are going to have maps they havent played..

i noticed you chose new world for one of these tournaments..
maybe go for less popular maps would help you?

Yeah, I may take your and SirSebstar's advice and find underplayed maps, probably by poling some targeted players first.

map explorers would be happy to have you as a member and we're a great pool of people to ask since we talk a lot about which maps we haven't played. i would definitely join your tourney.

Perhaps an alternative that may save you some work is to have anyone who signs up TELL YOU what maps they've never played. Then, prior to your assigning them to a particular map, you do a quick verification that they haven't played that particular map.

woodruff, that was my thinking too. however i looked at his format. we wants people who have not played new world, e.g. so he is actually looking for people, who have not played a map he had on his mind... not looking for maps people need/want to play..
