A Complaint

I've played as a casual risk player on this website since the beginning. It's a fantastic site but recently and increasingly so it seems harder and harder to find a good game.
Most of the games with slots available are two or three guys who play with each other every game. These guys play the same map over and over again and pick on beginners to get their scores up. I'm playing in a doubles game at the moment against two fairly high ranked players and they're very irritating. We were all online at the end of turn 1 and yet they refused to take their turn as that would mean we could also start and gain our Russian bonus (European map). We asked to play real time and they refused saying "you should have ended your turn first".
I have noticed this kind of play more and more these days (the above is just one example). It's not cheating of course but it's still very annoying. The lack of sportsmanship is pathetic really, people are so desperate to win they go to any length to obtain their victory.

Premium membership, set up a private game and invite players who you want to play against.
Alternatively keep an eye on the call outs section. I've not met the attitude you indicate.

in freestyle, that really is all part of the strategy...to begin your turn when someone has asia is more or less suicide...so the goal is to get asia hold it and end before they do...then collect, and take their bonus....it really is how its played
if you set up a game and everyone decides beforehand real time to the death, thats different..but not many will
i havent played a lot of freestyle lately, but i used to
the quickest games if you want are really sequential, because everyone can make their turn and not worry when they start or end....freestyle real time actually take longer...because the timing of starting and stopping of turns is half the battle
if you go to callouts, you can usually find realtime games that are sequential
good luck

I'd suggest not playing doubles and triples, especially with those teams who set up 10-20 games at a time. Those guys are just looking for uncoordinated noobs to join so they can beat them easily for points to inflate their scores. Find standard games instead.

That's part of the problem, 2 pages of doubles and triples, a lot of freestyles set up by the same few players who probably have alerters and whatnot so they jump in and get their bonus as soon as someone else begins their turn.
And then hidden somewhere in the midst of all that, a few standard sequential no card/flat rate games.
It's really kind of depressing.

You could always use the game finder to find standard- or terminator-games waiting for players.
And if all that doesn't help you can also open your own games...
... sooner or later someone will join.

MeDeFe, I agree completely.
I now host most of the games I play in - it's just easier. Although it was a game that I had hosted that high ranking players joined. :/
