Team game with a new player

I am trying to convince a friend to join the site. I want to invite him to play a team game with me. If I create a public team game can I then invite him to join me? Or do I have to make a private game and then open it up to the public? I know that new players are not allowed to join a team game.

a private game only means you have made a password for it. Spreading your password for that game (don't make it the same as to your account!!) means making it public.
The normal rules do not apply to private games, so i suggest you get him to join a private game.

New Recruit New Recruits must earn a promotion to join Assassin games, Terminator games, team games, large games (6 or more players) and games on complex maps (they will be hidden from Join A Game and Game Finder listings). These restrictions do not apply to private games.
