Freestyle games - Player who starts the turn but waits?

Hey guys,

I wanted to know what is the rule on someone who starts the turn and then waits until most of the players play their turn and then he finishes his turn. I mean if you do it once or twice that is probably fine but when it becomes part of your strategy, is this really fair overall?

From what it looks like, he is always the first one to start the turn and leaves it like so, so that at least he has got the bonus for that particular round, so even if i was to break down his zone, he would still get the same amount of troops because he has already began the turn.

Is this a fair play and what is the ruling on such gameplay?

it's fair, most people just wait until the hour expires and then smash the bonus. The smarter move would be the last person to go and then grab a bonus and end turn and then start ur turn immediately to get the bonus which u have no hope in keeping normally. It's quite counterable, u can also just wait until the last 2 minutes to start ur turn to make sure no one pulls it or to counter someone doing that.

Except that the last person to go cant go first next time.

Thks for the replies, I see, I thought that might be considered cheating but I guess not many players have found this strategy to be too unfair then.

Monster-, I saw the same thing in a 6-8 person game, so in Game Chat I recommended that EVERYONE else attack that person if they do it continually. They concurred and that stopped that strategy cold -- for that game.

There should be a huge notice on the site that reads "Play freestyle at your own risk". Freestyle is full of point farmers who have nothing better to do than stare at the game for hours on end, and have learned how to best exploit the system. If you want to play against real strategists, stick to sequential games.

It's also a way for you to maintain a good number of troops.
When you see you'll lose your bonus next round, cash it before other take their turn. And deploy them somewhere else, if you have a target of some sort.

If it's unfair to other players, well let them be the judges. Ratings are here for that. And war knows no ethics, so what the hey.

I'm new to the site, and I just experienced this. I'm waiting for school to start, so I have some time on the internet. I joined a freestyle game, and got smashed, because I didn't know how the bonuses worked. could someone please PM me about how they work?

It seems as tho the author is talking about speed games, because he is saying the first person to start is the last to finish.
This is how freestyle speed games are played.Threatening them won't achieve anything.
Please correct me if I am wrong. :)

It's a natural part of the big package that is called Freestyle, and one of the best reasons I have for not playing with that setting.

Ugh you are not serious are you? There are many good freestyle players who relish at the chance to play vs top players. In fact I would bet my house that you would be ran over in one of the private top player invite games. Freestyle is not about point farming, but rather a quicker style of play many of us enjoy. Do you have to be around more to win? Sure it helps in casual games, but in speed games moot point. BTW freestyle has many great players playing it. Just because you cannot do it well does not mean people who can are terrible strategist. Most all of us who play freestyle can play seq also.

Yes, I'm serious. I know there are great freestyle players out there. I haven't played you, but I have no doubt you're one of them. To be clear: not every freestyle player is a cheater/point farmer, but every cheater/point farmer is a freestyle player. And as long as C&A and bug reports about freestyle games are continuously ignored or brushed off because they're "not that common", my view won't change.

Or join the Freestyle Kingz and play each other.Players who do not understand the concept always come out with comments like drunkmonkey.
I'm good at all games, any settings and any map.The Freestyle Kingz don't have a farmer or even a sheppard. Its nothing to do with exploiting anyone. Its a faster gameplay and requires different skills.

Just want to note that the recently banned KLOBBER is one of the most well known farmers on CC, yet he relies on 8p sequential games for his points.

Didn't mean to get everyone's panties in a wad. Show me an open public freestyle game not meant to prey on new players, and I'll retract my statement. Actually, don't. I'm done here.

I would like to state that most great freestyle players are also good at sequential, while most sequential players are not good at freestyle. You think of freestyle as farming but how is me playing a cook in freestyle any different than me playing a cook in sequential. I would like to see anyone who thinks freestyle has no skill and is all about speed play a 8 player speed escalating game...which in my opinion is the game type that takes the most skill to win of all of those i have played. Sure speed will always play a role but its not the be all end all, there are plenty of fast players who never win those games because they are lacking the skill aspect of them.

Let me be the first to clear the air by saying a seq 1 vs 1 is 100% more likely to end in a coin flip where as a fs 1 vs 1 is more likely about skill. In seq you have to hope and pray for first turn at times, where as freestyle speed per say you both can play at the same time. If 2 fast players get to playing, then it becomes about who makes the most mistakes, in forting, moving around the map etc. A game of skill more than the luck of seq.

i have been playing a lot of freestyle games of late but i do so on Age of Realms 2, Feudal War and other maps where we have designated and separated starting positions.

it's a quicker game

I won't,but if you care to look at my game history.....99% of them are public games. You are correct, you are done here.

Its a mute arguement...Freestyle or Sequential...Some players have I win by all means state of mind...the more you play vs them various types of styles youll come up with a counterattack...and once you start beating them...youll end up on their foe list lol...but what ive been seeing lately in the freestyle games is the miss a turn tactic...not against the rules but id rather have a player try n use up a whole hour before moving than a player taking 2 days to take a turn...

Missing a turn in freestyle or sequential is a poor strategy. He can be used as a buffer in an Escalating card game, but that is more likely to work in sequential.

as a newbie and fremium i consider freestyle to be a faster gaming experience. i'd rather play freestyle against players of higher caliber than sequential games with rookies who, often than not, dont show. its about the learning process and the faster i learn the faster i dare to challenge the top players "we are not worthy!"
