beginners information

I came upon this website conquer club as a reult of a google search when i wanted to play the well-known game RISK with other like-minded person of the online public.

So of the various maps, i chose to play the Asian map as it was larger and approximated the world map used by RISK.

My first problem was as basic as how to interpret the map and the numbers. Unlike RISK where your troops and the others' troops are easily identifiable here it was hard for me to see the numbers and differentiate between my own and the others'.

seocndly being a team game , i couldnt see how the co-ordination is being carried out ?

basically im lost in this environment and would appreciate it if i could be pointed to where i ( and indeed other beginners) could learn about this game

Thanks in Advance ,
Roma

You are not playing team games at the moment. But communication usually goes through the game chat.

Why exactly was it hard to see the numbers? You could try the 'add colour codes'-link on the right side of the map, that helps differentiating between them.

And the instructions-page (http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?m ... tructions1) should give you the basic information for playing this game. Of course, there is more to learn but that is the place to start.

Also if you want a risk-type experience try the classic map. It is very, shall we say, similar to a certain boardgame ...

Asia only approximates one of the 'risk' continents; Classic invokes them all... and you'll find attack paths quite *ahem* like the classic gamestyle you claim to enjoy.

If you click to turn on the coding, then in addition to green troops being green, they have a g by them; red has an r, cyan has a c, silver has an s, and so forth.

1) Game chat is a useful tool to communicate; the checkmark in the box for game chat enables only the team to see what you say. Take the check out of the little box to communicate to everyone who's looking.
2) Some teams prefer to use other chat venues: CC's forum pm function (inbox); Live chat pm functions; yahoo or other im chat systems; your regular email.

1) The forum for Society of Cooks can help you learn game strategies.
2) There is also an initiative under way to provide guides for the various maps and game options you'll find on Conquer Club.
3) People on Live Chat will usually answer your questions. Expect a few smart-aleck answers thrown in the mix, but also anticipate that if anyone is there, they'll probably help. If no one is there chatting, come back another time, the Live Chat population varies day to day, hour to hour.
4) pm the highest rank on your team for assistance

Try the cook's forum.

As for the "variety" maps... ask around, look at the strategy guides (few official guides have been approved for these maps, but there are plenty of unofficial ones) and just play.

You might try playing 1 vs 1 at first, just to learn the "ins and outs" of a new map. Of course, 1 vs 1 strategy is a bit different (often you need to be more aggressive, etc.) and its definitely more luck-based. However, the first few times you play a map are rather a "craps shoot" anyway and in 1 vs 1 you finish much more quickly. Also, a lot of 1 vs 1 players will offer helps if you ask nicely.

I would be more than happy to help you with any map, though the only one I am truly good at is AOR2.

Welcome to CC Roma

Look us up at School of Cooks. We teach terminator escalating games on classic map. It can give you a basic foundation in game play and it will help you meet other folks to help you out.

The biggest begginer mistake folks make is thinking a land bonus in escalting is what wins the game. what wins in escalating is board placement and card cash. To many new folks waste manpower trying to take and hold a bonus while wasting armies and ignoring other areas of the board.

There are other stlyes of game play but this is the easiest to learn. Another suggestion is to learn a map and game style till your comfortable. there are many paths you can choose.

Good Luck

Also try installing "Bob". It's very useful and helps identify who is on what territory and which ones it can attack/is vulnerable to.

1. You need to be using Firefox - http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
2. You also need to install the Firefox extension "Greasemonkey" - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748/
3. Then install "Bob" (a script for Greasemonkey) - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/52341

Dr Madvibe

I'm off to look at the Society of Cooks after losing another game I thought I'd win.

One of the rules I live by that helps keep my sanity...

"The dice can make a tactical genius look like an idiot and an idiot look like a genius."

If you are attacking never roll with less then 3 dice meaning...never ever attack using 3 armies or less unless the game is completly on the line.

I think this goes to show that a video tutorial would be very beneficial for this game, I had made a similiar idea, to this and would like to expound on it if possible and granted the authorization to. Hence helping new comers to understand the game before they start playing. http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=123613&p=2716045#p2716045
