Couldnt you have waited 24 hours at least for a response before giving up and slamming
everyone here?

so a legitimate question garners no response (and considering this is probably the most active forum, i dont think expecting a quick answer is out of the question), yet a biting yet truthful criticism instantly acquires reactions....
i repeat my second post

Never mind. It's an insult not an argument.

It was a metaphor. As in not literal.

thank you for helping prove my point, hawkeye. someone asks a legitimate question, seeking help from the CC community...... after 12 hours, no response.
someone makes a statement that might be found even slightly offensive to anyone and within 2 hours gets a response.....
i realize that it wasn't fair of me to categorize everyone into that generalization.. but it's interesting to observe people's reactions in that scenario

I had just gotten home and saw your post. Doesn't mean we were all staring at the screen laughing at you while you were waiting.

*sigh*
i dont want to argue, i was just trying to illicit some sort of response which seems impossible to obtain as a player with less than 20 games

Yo, I'd help you out, if I understood one word of your question... I'm more clueless on this than you apparently.

ill rephrase my original question; maybe im wrong on this stuff, cuz im relatively new to it, but from what i understand, this is essentially how it works
i just recently downloaded an RSS reader, Bandit. in order to get feeds into the reader, i need the RSS feed XML URL with text. you usually do this by clickong on the orange RSS buttons. when i click it for CC, though, i get a prompt asking me to Save, Open or Cancel. that same prompy also identifies the file as "unknown file type". i choose Open, but then i get the same prompt again, this time identifying the file as something else (sorry for the ambiguity, im not on my home comp right now.
if anyone can help me with this problem, it would be much appreciated

adam- I'm sorry to see the hostility that arose so quickly in this thread, and that you didn't get a response to your question. Unfortunately I don't know how to help you with the RSS feed because I don't know how to use it (and I don't think a lot of people do).
I remember trying to figure this out a while ago- basically its a system to let you check your game status without logging in all the time, correct?
If so, check out the plug ins and utilities thread that is stickied to the top of the general board. Some users have created add ons, and I use "conquer tell" to alert me about the status of my games. Its simple and works great. Also highly recommended is tr0y's greasemonkey script which counts cards, armies, cash in values and even gives a (somewhat arbitrary) strength rating.
If you need help getting that stuff installed and running, search through the threads because people have given out pretty good instructions over time. If you try all that and still can't figure it out post here for more help. And if this ISNT what you wanted the RSS feed for, then I'm sorry for wasting your time

thank you for your reply, and that is indeed what i wanted the RSS for. i didnt want to use Greasemonkey cuz i wanted all my feeds consolidated in one program, Bandit.
but it seems that next to no one uses the RSS, so i might have to consider using the GM scripts
[edit]: i did look through that Utils and plug-ins topic, but i didnt see mention of the RSS, just greasemonkey stuff

Ok I downloaded Bandit and this is how I was able to use the RSS with Bandit
In Bandit Click on new
Enter the URL for the CC RSS feed eg.
http://www.conquerclub.com/rss.php?user_id=94
(Of course you will need to put your user ID number in the place of the 94)
Then just follow the prompts and enter your username and password and it should set up fine.
Any other questions let me know.

thank you moz, i copied the URL you gave and substituted my own ID in and it finally worked. my problem was that i didnt know how to and couldnt find the URL for the CC RSS feed, it kept coming up as unknown file type. but i guess thats all i needed.
thank you everyone for you help, and i apologize again for my hasty insults and criticisms.

Rather than using an rss reader - which this is not really suited for this IMHO. I use it on my PDA's one but that's it. I'd recommend fantius's app
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9004
Sits in the system tray and shows the number of games waiting for you to play
Tals
p.s please note there is a 5 minute delay on the rss feed.
