You get different amounts of armies depending on how many radiation points you control.
1 -1
2 -1
3 0
4 +2
5 +5
6 +9

2 radiation centers will form a nexus, giving one army, and each radiation canter individually subtracts an army. And remember that each center can make more than one nexus. So, with one, you just recieve -1 armies from that single one. From two, there is one nexus, but two armies being subtracted, for a net gain of -1. With three, there are both three nexuses and the centers, for no net gain or loss. With four, there is a total of 6 nexuses, and four centers, for a net gain of +2, and so on. If you ever forget the numbers, there is be a brief list of armies recieved per radiation centers controlled in a sign on the lower part of the map.

Sorry, fella, that was a bit misleading. Connected in this sense means that they are the same type, i.e. irradiated. They don't need to be chained to each other.

Dmunster- you don't need to worry about the nexus at all to play the game. That was just a necessary addition to the programming to make sure the right bonuses were given out (since it has to be negative for owning some, but eventually positive).

Anyway, it is confusing to most people but you don't need to worry about what it means or how it works....the end result is exactly as Kupo said:

"You get different amounts of armies depending on how many radiation points you control.
1 -1
2 -1
3 0
4 +2
5 +5
6 +9"

The nexus and radiated territory bonuses are just needed to make it work correctly.
