Make sure you're not taking any vacations for the foreseeable future.

Having not yet done it (not yet dared to... maybe after the spring, when I have several months free) I'm guessing a good theory would be simply to grab territory. The continents themselves are very hard to hold. Yet you get a considerable territory bonus from the beginning, enough to enable you to capture and hold a few territories each turn. Capture the territories that aren't connected to the smaller continents, the in between ones. Then nobody will have the temptation to take them away from you. For every three you capture, you get another army bonus. In No Cards, if you have the most territory, and nobody else has twice as many armies as you do, you're doing well. Good luck!

Innit. I played a no-cards game on world 2.0 and it went on for about 55 rounds.

I'm playing a couple of World 2.0 games right now: one is flat rate (3 player), and two others are no cards (6 player).
My basic strategy is to pick out a good spot or two where you can build and try and get a subcontinent or two. And then work toward a full continent. It's probably easier to hold on to a subcontinent in this game than a full continent, since full continents make you that much more of a target.
But, just like any other game, a decent starting position will help you along your way - the first World 2.0 game I joined, somebody started out with the entirety of the US subcontinent on the first turn. Talk about some luck.
And then pray that you get some good dice rolls.

I'm holding S.A. at the moment. Because of good starting position. Will try to hold. Just broke up reds control of N.A. with Canada.

don't try to break everyones continents like u mite in a classic game. i made the mistake of doing this early on and took out a couple of players wen it wasn't necessary. u need to work slowly. if u try to take on too much then u lose ur position

with no cards, get your territory as huge as possible very quickly. have your borders guarded with 5-10 armies each (depending on who your neighbors are). expand everywhere taking as much as you can. then when there isnt a good place to go without killing yourself, pile up your armies and take over one of the mini-continents. continue like this, attacking all of your opponents equally until you have a large enough bonus to keep them from winning.

I try to pick 2 areas where I can secure a bonus then I split my deployment. Normally I can get the conts at the same time. After that I just keep snowballin bonuses.

this is where i always start. my goal is usually take SA, and becuase it is so easy to hold and has a good bonus, i take my troops and start messin with the guy trying to take asia.
moving into north america is usually not a good idea if someone else is trying to take it. it is too big and easy to cross and you would get pushed back every turn.
if asia and australia are not an option for you, go into africa.
even if someone else is trying to take it, you can still kick him out with your SA bonus.

I personally find that turn one and two are trying to get an area, and then slowly expand your areas in places where either you are strong, or everyone else is ignoring to pick up bonus'
It worked pretty well in 165498 which was a 5 player no card game and ended on round 11
