that is fine, in tennis a player may say a tactical comment at the changeover and use it as a phsycological tactic. That is gamesmanship this is the same you are using an option in the game to help your in game status thats fine so long as it is not offendin anyone as that is unfair and not acceptable in the site.

When i first joined all i did was play mind games with everyone i played. I used fear, hope, and sarcasm to dominate my opponets but for the last two months i decided that I should focus on my play rather than words, which is how i climbed the ranks. The chat is a good tool to know about so you dont get played, but i recommend moving away from that tactic

Acceptable; I do this in chess tournaments too. Another thing might actually be is when you're in a team and you (using global chat) pretend there is a fallout among the members of your team, which deceives the enemy into assuming that your team is divided.

we had a noob question why dug was killing my guys in a game...he was taking australia of course, but i went along with it for fun and yelled at dug...

i think the guy actually bought it for a round or two till we owned the whole board...he couldnt understand why i kept giving dug armies...

granted..this was not to win...our armies took care of that..but it was fun...

usually i don't do it, but i used it once, on a 4plr game with 3 left, who were pretty at the same strength and everytimes fighting the strongest until he got back to the level of the two others and so on. we three were a real mess and then i started to make some mind games and try to persuade the other two, that yellow was the strongest, and he looked like the strongest, too, even if he wasn't (just because he owned some connected countries :D ). it was very fun and it seems that they believed it after a few more rounds and my two enemies started to fight only each other while i build up and kept saying that i am sooo weak and yellow is still sooo strong

then, as i had 2-3 rounds without casualties, i could rush one player out and cash in lots of cards and won the round after the next turn. the players were all very talkative and so it was lot's of fun.

by the way: we played the huge new world map
