A friendly reminder

Since we have many new members, and coincidentally are seeing a rise in spam, I thought it'd be a good time to remind everyone of the Forum Guidelines.

Have a good day! 8)

damn i hate all these posters livening up the forums.

by the way, i read the guidelines. i saw something about aggressive homophobic language, but 90% of the insults flying around here have to do with calling someone gay, or faggot, etc.

it's just that if we're going to have guidelines, let's make them realistic. message boards are for bored people (and drunk people) who want to post. occasionally, they miss a category. it's your job (as moderator) to move them.

believe me, i hate spam too. just playing devil's advocate.

Livening up the forums is fine. But some of the mental diarrhea being posted here lately wouldn't liven up a morgue. Not looking for a debate, just posting for the benefit of those who came here after the guidelines. Carry on.

wicked, i am with you 100%. i just hope we don't single out only new people and make them feel excluded, but let's also consider threads that sound anything like:

"stachewhackers rule..." etc.

if we are against spam, let's be against it. even though i have nothing against him, i hope reverend_kyle reads this thread.

maybe so.

but still you are guilty, as we all are (myself included) occasionally of the "metal diarrhea" wicked is condemning.

for instance, in dugcarr's post condemning stache spam in the flame wars forum, wicked's brilliant contribution was:

jealous duggy?

all i am saying is that when i first got here, the forums were full of stache this and stache that, and one of my first reactions was to call out kyle specifically on it. it seems to me, that if we are to attack spam, we should not only discourage newbies from posting fodder, but also consider "veterans" who may be guilty of the same.

flaming often works best, because if someone posts crap and gets flamed for it often enough, they will stop. except, of course, the staches, who are by far the loudest and most annoying user group on CC. and i've never seen a group of people more hell-bent on convincing everyone how awesome they are.

it's almost as if they are trying to convince themselves.

Well, for the record we are awesome, ever since the stache came here, they've been loud.. its a fact of life. It was fun back then.. that was before twilldos dumb guidelines.

Well, the thing is, we may be loud.. but thats 1/2 our thing.. and we're good at it... the other 1/2 is risk.. and we are good at that too.

I'm not going to get on anyone's case, including my own, for posting occassional random garbage. But when we start seeing the same group of newbs posting the same nonsense spam in multiple threads in multiple forums multiple times a day, it tends to get bloody annoying. The signal to noise ratio is borderline unacceptable, hence the reminder.
