How about something like this...

Red: FF0000
Green: 006400
Blue: 0000FF
Yellow: FFFF00
Pink: FF00FF
Cyan: 00FFFF
Orange: FF9922
Silver: C0C0C0
Violet: 9400D3
Electric green: 00FF00
Tomato: CD5C5C
Drab: 688E23

For comparison of the new colors versus their names,

Player 9 purple/violet
Current color
Named color violet

Player 10 lime/electric green
Current color
Named color electric green

Player 11 maroon/tomato/auburn etc
Current color
Named color tomato

Player 12 olive/drab
Current color
Named color drab

Players 9, 10 and 12 are very close and we don't need to worry about that. Tomato and Indian Red are pretty close, closer than Auburn anyway. I don't think we're going to get something that's pretty much identical, but this is pretty close.

With this the first letter of each color is also the color code.

Firebrick is really the only other option, and it's pretty close to auburn...and who the f*ck calls a color "Firebrick"?

So yeah, it's either A for Auburn or T for Tomato...which is also kind of a silly name for a color. We could also save T for a possible Tan in 5 years.

EDIT: Zaffre is pretty much blue...nothing doing there, I don't think.

That's also another option for the light green, and it keeps it to one word. But is anyone REALLY going to call it harlequin? I've never heard that color until right now.

I like Electric, put it to vote.

I like Violet but even though I made fun of your idea. I'm open to trying to find an other letter.

that's the zaffre color code, pretty much blue. I'll try to see if I can't find another name for purple, but v *should* be fine, as no one has brought up that issue so far.

Other options include:
amethyst (would require to change auburn)
indigo (I would think that the i looking like a 1 would be more problematic than the v/y underline)
eggplant (changing electric green to harlequin, which is still a stupid name)
fuchsia (IMO, it's more on the pink side)
fandango (wtf is this?)
lavender (worse of a problem than i looking like a 1)
