I can't speak for Andy or lack, but in my particular case, I'm pretty sure all it means is that I am a combination of boring and lazy.

Personally, I prefer when users stick to the same avatar. I like associating the person with their avatar; it helps me to visualize them in a weird sort of way, and, in a more practical way, to remember them!

As for me, I like mixing things up from time to time, but I still like having an image associated with me specifically. Something a bit more tangible than the general tone of my posts and my username. Thus, I tend to stick with different images of the same character. In my eyes, never changing avatars is representative of a more stable, dedicated type, while changing avatars frequently is representative of a more unstable, flighty character with fleeting desires.

It's interesting to note that more members of TeamCC stick to certain avatars than change them...

Then why didn't you stick with the Sully image from Monsters, Inc?

I believe you're thinking of sully800

I consider any policing of avatars to make the website more family-friendly to be utterly pointless as long as we have a conqueror named "Gettinhed".

So your avatars are in effect "virtual radials"? What a concept!

Great point. I don't like that name and I don't think it's appropriate. I don't think because that name is allowed that we should allow such freedom in avatars as well. Images can be worse.
So, is your suggestion to police usernames more?

The only thing I can say as the devil's advocate here is that I've been on other sites where the usernames were much, much worse. I think genlee is the first one I've ever noticed on here that could even be considered offensive. I'm sure there have been but evidently the filters (programmed or otherwise) are pretty successful in that respect.
