Firstly, analogies are always flawed.

No they're not. An analogy is something that describes something else by finding similarities in the concepts. When the analogy describes it's target fairly it can be said to be apt. When the analogy fails to do that it is flawed.

For example, I could compare my penis to the tower of Pisa - leans slightly to the side but stays erect for centuries. Now that's an apt analogy.

However, if I were to compare a mallard to a watermelon because both love fancy hats, that would be a flawed analogy. While some mallards might conceivably develop a love for fancy hats, watermelons are not sentient and thus aren't capable of appreciation for fine headwear.

It's not that complicated, really.

Let me reiterate: The talent of high ranked players on CC is to NFL players as the talent of low ranked players is to high school football players. If that insults someone, so be it. It seems reasonably valid. Not everyone has equal skill in everything.

No, it's flawed, in several ways. Firstly, rank doesn't accurately reflect skill and never has, it has much more to do with the kinds of games you choose to play. If I were to only play triples or quads with some skilled players, I could easily get my rank up to the first page, as could anyone with a halfway decent understanding of the game.

Secondly, you were using the analogy to justify why high-ranked players shouldn't be allowed to play low-rankers as much as they want. While NFL players playing against high schoolers in a professional setting wouldn't be in any way reasonable, the same doesn't apply to CC: in CC even the highest ranked players aren't playing their CC games professionally, they don't have sponsorships or professional careers - everyone who plays this game is, regardless of their rank or skill, doing it on an amateur basis. Again, it's a casual gaming site.

No, he doesn't. Like it or not, GLG is well within the rules of the site, and MB does not have the right to do "whatever he feels" to stop him. For example, MB does not have the right to break the forum guidelines or break the site rules in his crusade against GLG.

Like it or not, CC is not a democracy, and the site owner has a right to decide what is allowed and what isn't here. Ultimately, if lackattack - or by extension, the site admin - decides that GLG is not cheating, then however much MB wants to "believe" it to be "gross abuse", it isn't.

MB does have the right to complain and express his opinion, within reasonable limits. However, other people also have the right to express their opinion, and they can post counter-arguments if they disagree with MB:s arguments.

You seemed upset that there are people who feel as though their standard is universal. Well, since people have a right to their own beliefs, they have a right to believe that everyone on CC will think as they do.

Sigh... everyone has the right to believe that the world is square and made of shit for all I care. However if they try to argue their view publicly, other people have the right to challenge those views.

I don't think "constructive criticism" means what you think it does. It's not some magic pair of words that gives you the right to say anything and not expect your points to be argued against. You can't first make a series of arguments, then when they are refuted cry "well I was just trying to give constructive criticism". It doesn't work that way.

In other words, don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Let me just say a simple clear observation. Everyone has began to bash Master Bush for harping on and on about GLG, saying that he has now become more pathetic than GLG himself! Well, Natty, you seem to follow every thread MB has posted in, or any thread related to this topic. That makes you no better than Master Bush. You just don't see your own hypocracies. TL;DR.

The whole, 'rank does not show skill' thing is subjective. Spoken like a true lieutenant there! Rank is some indication of talent. So are medals. And sure, playing a wide variety of maps with many settings with success indicates talent. Rank is part of the picture, however... think you can be a general with just trips games? Do it up, I dont think you'd make it.

I think you don't like my analogy because you do not believe that rank is [b]any[b] indication of skill. If that's what you believe... well then I guess my analogy would not be very logical to you.

I agree, MB should stay within reasonable limits. You are very nit-picky... it doesn't make you look intelligent, just annoying and immature. Obviously I wasn't implying that MB should kill lackattack and take over CC to get what he feels is right. Or that he should continually flame GLG. Or anything else illegal.
