CC, if you know the people in RL. Its neater, no putting away the board. No cheating (except krusher) random starts, no dice rolling that takes forever, many maps, scores.

CC, if you're like me, not many of your friends, like risk. Though on CC I have a lot of internet friends, that I play with so it's still fun. :P

in real life it's better much much better. it's not just the atmosphere of playing with real cannons and horses or aircrafts and tanks surrounded by friends glasses of beer soda vodka plus lots of cigarette smoke in the room, but it's also about the flexible rules the fact that you can play anything from nuclear risk to alien or paranoia risk, or you can make your craziest rules come to life. for example for every double dice a nuclear bomb strikes and for every triple 2 nuclears strike randomly. it's crazy it's mayhem it's over in less than 10 rounds. it's gorgeous.

I've never actually played the game of Risk in real life. I got turned onto CC by a friend and learned it all here. would be fun to play the real game though so i could compare.

I'm totally with everyone who finds it difficult to round up enough people to make a real life Risk game interesting. However, the interpersonal wheeling and dealing one can have in real life is what makes it interesting. Risk can be played like poker, in that one can win through diplomacy, bluffing, and intimidation rather than strategy and tactics. On CC, I like the variety of maps and the ease with which one can organize games, but some of that personal touch is lacking.
This is not a signature.

Playing online is much better...you get to go against new opponents most any day you start a game and the games can be finished in 20 minutes if you like instead of the three-hour slug fests at the dining room table.

I don't mind either way. On CC I have to use more tactics. Whereas in real life I can manipulate the dice so i always win

I would say CC because you could play poker in 'real life'. Why would you play Risk instead? 8)

Real life dudes. At least when I have a mission I can use subtle ways of misleading. And there's booze.

everyone throws in 10 bucks and the winner takes the pot. Thats they way we used to do it anyway.

I've still got a risk board with the original wooden pieces. :D

I like to take 15 min to set up ALL my armys off to the side in nice little lines, and some times if i got 1 dude that someone attacks and loses a bunch of dudes before i get killed, I like to make a little shrine with the super tough dude. THEN later i get to put him back out when i deploy on my next turn.

CC Pros
- No setup required
- Play over several days/weeks or months
- Automatic counts

Real life Pros
- Personal contact with others
- Reason to drink beer
- Don't need to type to talk to other players

AAFitz wrote:Well, I usually play risk as a drinking game, so I prefer Hasbro's version. For every lost army you take a drink. Its much safer with real dice, and It cant be played online without web-cams to insure accuracy in drink taking. Also, auto attack in the wrong situation, could be actual suicide, and not the virtual army suicide we usually refer to in here. So only for that reason do I prefer the original.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea if im better at CC or real-life risk, since I have no idea if ive ive ever won or lost the real-life games...I only know it hurts a lot the next day either way.

This is completely made up, and never happened. Its just stupid. Dont do it, or even think about it because youll probably die, or get caught stealing a sheep, dressing it up as Little Bo Peep, and being the number one rated You-Tube video, until you get processed, and meet your new friend Bubba, you will make even the sheep jealous.

And to answer your next question. No. I did not just finish one of those games. I was just a bit bored.

I've never done Drinking Risk...
But I do enjoy Strip Risk... gives new meaning to escalating...

Mhh then tell me when you organise the next game ;). I will definately give strip risk a new meaning :P . You'll enjoy it!!

Well I like real risk more cause you play with friends and there is more interaction. It is so timeconsuming it's actually fun :D . I remember an epic battle n vacation in andorra. We started a game at 20.00 with six players in it. At 00.00 there were only thre players left, shouldn't last long... Well it continued till 07.00 (a whooping eleven hours gameplay) when I could finally take the win.
Realise we even played with missions :d. It was crazy but so much fun.
Also I like the concept of missions :).

Real Life - but I do miss the banter in CC

Postby Bobbi on Tue Dec 18, 2007 4:49 am

I haven't actually played on line for sometime now. As you can probably tell from my score I was a have real bad run here and it was kinda getting to me.

I enjoy playing real life as some of you have pointed out you can change the way you play and what you play for  :P

I must admit though I have missed the banter from some of the people that I have come across in CC.

Hence the reason I am back :D

Yeah I find real life risk to be more social.
