Honestly this thread just makes me feel sad; one of the best tournament organizers on the site who really brings a fun tournament, with a large scale, and really intense competition, pitted against a group of the hardworking volunteers who keep this site going in other ways. Everyone has their own realm in which they're contributing to the site, and neither side is a true villain, just conflicting visions over how to keep the site alive and amazing for all. I wish this conflict didn't have to happen, and I'm saying that without blaming either side, and with the knowledge that both sides are unlikely to back down from their positions, because both sides feel offended by the other.

A sad day for CC that it's come to this, and that the people who have each in their own way made this site wonderful are against each other.

I take no sides, I just play the game and keep out of drama. But this is a sad result.

I totally agree with this 100%, Also For what little the Mods get as compensation , and the work they actually do, they do go above and beyond for the token compensation they get.
I'm hoping things can be worked out, been a fun ride here, and really again would hate to leave this site,

I think it is easy to view this as the Mods vs Craig, but in reality, it isn't that simple. The mods are not really a unified entity that act together or even directly work together. Different departments handle different areas of the site, some mods have a larger influence and offer advice or input on some situations, but even then, most of those mods are relatively uninvolved in areas of the site that do not fall under their department.

Craig has had many "run-ins" with the mods over the past 2 years, but throughout that time, it hasn't been with the same mod or department every time. The ones dealing with him 2 years ago are not necessarily the ones who dealt with him a year ago, or who dealt with him last week. This isn't a personal issue between a single or group of mods and Craig, rather, it is mods enforcing site rules and issuing appropriate punishments based on the rules broken and his past bans.

We do not want to ban Craig, we do not want Craig to quit the site, or derail Super League in any way. At the same time, we must enforce site rules equally. When a line is crossed, regardless of who crosses it, we must enforce the rules. We can't pick and choose who must follow site rules and who doesn't need to based on what they contribute to the site.

The sad reality is that over the years, we have had to permanently remove members from this site. Some of them contributed positively to the site in many ways. That sucks, none of us like it, we hate that it gets to that point. Sometimes it just does though, sometimes people just won't stop, won't follow the rules. I hope that doesn't happen here, I hope Craig just stops breaking site rules, continues to run an amazing tournament, and enjoys his time on the site. But ultimately, that is his choice to make, all we mods can do is enforce the rules if they are broken.

Mad already had plans to leave before that incident and it was for very different personal reasons. I knew him well and miss him, he gifted me a years subscription before he went, so really hoping he'll be back one day.

I'm sorry, but can we back up a moment here? How is Craig trying to improve ConquerClub?

Is it by supporting Clans, the best way to play organized team games? No, he shits on them routinely.

Is it by supporting Tribes, a great way for a group of individuals to compete against others? No, he ignores them.

Is it by supporting other Tournament Organizers and trying to grow them? No, he was removed from the Tournament Organizers group because all he did was insult other TO's.

Is it by running 1 tournament over and over? There we are.

Technically though, he also makes good suggestions on how to improve his single tournament, hoping CC will take over and rerdesign the entire auto-tournament system so he doesn't have to lift a finger anymore. This is often overlooked because when mod's say something like 'BigWham will have to make fundamental changes so it's on him if he wants to do it,' he turns around and shits on the mods.

Reminder, mods are people that volunteer their time to look after the website, but have been given extremely limited powers and cannot make large changes to the site. Sometimes they're given $31 US per yearr, and Craig then shits on them for receiving anything for their time and effort.

Maybe if he learned to act like an adult, instead of throwing a tantrum everytime he doesn't get his way, he'd avoid being repeatedly banned from the forums. However, that doesn't seem to be gaining any traction.

The CC mods have been plenty patient with him. I remember receiving a long term ban myself back in 2009, last 10 years, and the mods back then would've been handing Craig 6 month or more bans.

You need to back up, mate.

I've read the thread and am probably like many of CC players, I play in the Super league and enjoy it but am fully aware that I can only enjoy it whilst it lasts.

There have been other great tournaments and events in the past and if Super league ends because Craig leaves/gets perma banned then something will replace it in the future.

Of course we will loose a few CC players but we will gain new ones.

I haven't fully kept up with the shenanigans of Craig or the enforcements of the MODS

I just play the game.

We just need more people to just simply play the game.

Unfortunately, mediation involves a willingness to compromise on both sides. When you get someone who won't budge an inch, insists he's right in every single instance, and insists that everyone must bend to his will, no amount of mediation will help.

FWIW, I don't play SL and am tired of Craig's act. But I won't be "rubbing my hands with glee" at the thought of a popular tournament ending.

I agree with those who lament that something couldn't get worked out AND I think that is almost entirely due to the fact that Craig has been acting like a petulant a-hole.

If anila8 and ewebasher wanna continue then there is no problem whatsoever. It's Anila's system that gets the massive auto-invites out. CC should get Anila onboard and roll something out.

It's impossible to run SL without Anila's system these days anyways. Ofcourse you'd miss Craig and his fun comments. But nobody is irreplaceable. The graveyard lies full with those who thought so.

Why did I do it? The main reason i split the thread is because Craig took the original thread so far off topic that I had 2 choices, split the topic or give Craig a ban for derailing. Maybe I could have chosen a more delicate name for the topic, but after seeing some of the PMs Craig sent out I thought he had a thicker skin and could take as good as he gives, obviously not. I didn't realise he was so soft.

Moving forward, I will again offer extra credits and medals to the winners as I have in the past, but for that to happen 2 things need to occur.
1. I will not and have no intention of joining myself and
2. Craig has to follow the same rules and guidelines that everyone else does in CC.

My two cents (which probably isn't even wroth two cents), from a fairly casual player whose been around here since 09, it's clear that Craig loved to cross the line over and over. I've seen so much of him trashing the site/mods and I'm not even active on the forum. You have to respect the people who run the site.

I liked Superleague, then got burnt out for a couple seasons and was close to dropping out, but decided to put in more effort this season to try to get back up to Premier. I wont miss it if it goes even though it is very well run and has been fun at times. The load of games at the start is always a beat down and has stopped me from joining other tournaments. In my opinion, Flexmaster runs the best tournaments and this gives me a chance to play in more of those plus check out some others.

I did NOT at anytime takeover anybody's content. What I did was split a conversation that had been deliberately taken off topic, as per CC Protocols. I did this so Craig would NOT be banned for taking a CC discussion topic, off topic. So, in laymans terms, where we originally had 1 topic with 2 separate discussions, they were split into 2 individual topics.

Then Craig flipped berserk for some reason and started to send pm's to his SL participants with not correct and total misinformation telling a whole new bullshit story about it. .Then it spiralled out of control.

Nobody intervened in somebody's privacy. This is just a storm in a teacup /lightning in a bottle...

I hope its a good whisky bottle tho and i hope Craig cools down.

Moderation in the conquerclub forums used to be much stricter, around 2006-2008 it occasionally reached the point of being comical.

Even as things lightened up, sometimes a person that did good things for the site like create new maps would get banned, possibly for a mild infraction.

We complained about getting banned then too.

If you want to bother to look into the history of the beef, like the memorial tourney ... you'd find a pattern of: Craig acts like a dick, people get pissed at him for acting like a dick, then they confront him about it, then he cries persecution and raises the level of vitriol, then he gets punished.

I've played SBSL since Season 1 and loved it. I've said before that Craig does amazing work. But he really needs to stop playing the victim.
