The lifting of the taboo is not retroactive according to the mods. So, for me personally, I'm still on a sliding scale of offences.

been that way for years.. could have told you that, but for some reason you seem to think you have reinvented the wheel... CC will only be logical up to, and not beyond a very certain point-Jn

Nah- I think I changed CC a little bit. I've not claimed to have "reinvented the wheel". Are you so jaded that a small change in the system means you have to be in attack mode?

I'd like it to be a bigger change, but this is what we have.

Interesting. I just read this article on Cracked yesterday: http://www.cracked.com/blog/4-sites-tha ... real-time/

Number 3 was this site: http://www.nohomophobes.com/#!/today/

From the top of that site:
Homophobic language isn’t always meant to be hurtful,
but how often do we use it without thinking?

Wow. "So gay" was used 51 times in the 30 seconds I was browsing graphs.

I'm pretty sure "so gay" is the most common term uttered by the 10 - 14 demographic. My understanding is that it has no sexual meaning, and only means "any activity not involving a Playstation Portable."

i see what you did there... and yeah, i was actually pretty shocked that it was EVER taboo... and even more shocked that the US Supreme court turned the PC Police around 2 years ago by saying, "this is gay, people should be able to say gay." good job, justice ross!!!-JƩsus noir

Here's an interesting perspective from an elementary school teacher: http://www.tolerance.org/blog/s-so-gay- ... erspective

ā€œThat’s so gay!ā€
ā€œHe called me gay.ā€

I’m an elementary school teacher, and back when I was a closeted lesbian, hearing these words from my students immediately caused me to shudder. I hated dealing with those situations and the conversations that ensued. I certainly did not want to say anything that would cause my students (or their parents) to question my sexuality. I feared that my response would be misconstrued and my professional integrity would be cast into doubt.

I was unsure how best to respond and was scared to respond in a way that would be uncomfortable for everyone. My typical response when I heard those types of statements was to try to find out exactly what was said, and tell the student who said it, ā€œWe don’t use those kinds of words.ā€

ā€œThose kinds of words.ā€

Unknowingly, I taught my students that the word gay was vulgar and that it had no place in dialogue or conversation. Although I had hoped not to bring any attention to this word, I was doing just the opposite. I was bringing negative attention to the word gay and unintentionally promoting it as a word to use when one wanted to hurt another person’s feelings. By not saying anything more than, ā€œDon’t use that word,ā€ I was actually saying a lot.

I'm not trolling, it's pertinent to the topic. Ironic.

Pertinent how? If you want to be banned, why go about it this way?

Did you fail reading comprehension? I'm not the one looking for a ban, get your quotes straight.

Did you like that pun? I liked that pun. Punny.

Not homophobic! Don't know where you get that from, just disillusioned with the over the top PC world we live in and the mods on this site.

I'm sorry that people find the stuff you write and (presumably) say offensive. It must be difficult for you, having people call you out on your hatred. All that stuff pent up inside with no outlet because society says that you shouldn't bully and harass people. I would suggest that you garner some kind of control over your urges. Don't let the bigotry control you, rather you should control your bigotry.

Good luck,
Sym
