I think it is generally a good thing that the owner is a keen player, it makes it more likely that he will implement the changes we, as keen players ourselves, want.

But why start a new account? My guess is that he is living the fantasy all of us have: to start a new account and enjoy building his rank again. Arguably the most enjoyable time we have on CC is when we first build our ranks, as we can play whatever we like, we can play against low-ranked players (I genuinely miss that), we can play silly public speed games with deadbeats and suiciders galore.

I guess 86 believes this is the owner's motivation as well. Now if it is, the there is a question for the owner to answer, for he has effectively behaved as a multi, he is taking unfair amounts of points from his opposition, and this is one of the reasons we are not allowed to start new accounts. You know the owner could have continued to play with his original account and just used his admin. account for administration.

I think one of the perks of owning the place is getting to make burgers that are not even on the menu after hours. Or when the place is full of customers.

I don't believe so. It's a question of perception. For instance, I know that I have a couple of haters on this site and that's fine, everyone has one or two. They're irrational people anyway. However, if I was to become the owner in the morning, I think those couple of people who don't like me would cause crap for me. My strongest motivation would be the idea of starting out in a neutral position to everyone. It's like automatic respect. If you're a good player, going back to noob status shouldn't make a difference. You'd get your rank back in a couple of weeks. I know all I had to do was play a bunch of escalators and I'd be a major within days. I can't see that as being a motivator.

Why would you want a lower rank just to steal more points from people? Sounds kinda dumb to me. I mean when you have your points, you have them. The goal is to retain them and move up the ranks, the goal isn't how many points you can take from someone.

It isn't about whether he has the motivation to steal points. It is about the effect he has on other players as his rank shoots up, as in his opposition are all having to face a striper who might, for all we know, have a brigs ability. Your argument leads to the idea that we should all have the right to start new accounts. We don't, and there are good reasons for it.

There is also the issue of the owner being above the law. I'm not convinced that is right. In the UK we spent hundreds of years slowly but surely convincing Kings and Queens that they are not above the law (though some might say they still are!!). I think the owner of the site should respect the rules of this site and play on his original account. He can of course keep that play secret as in no one needs to know his gaming account. His 'wham' account should be for administration only.

I suppose it is possible that the new owner is not comfortable with his admin. persona being seperate from his gaming one. I feel for him on that..though if I bought this site (god help you all) I would just use my Mr C account for both purposes.

You all forget that the points are just notations in a database, which the webmaster controls. So, if winning points (or losing points, or anything else) was his desire, he could simply go into the database, make himself into a cook or a conqueror at will. He could even make himself albiestar.

I can see a lot of reasons for abandoning his old persona, but none of them involve points. He said to me that he just wants to be seen as unbiased and neutral, which makes a lot of sense.

Just as one "for instance" if a disciplinary issue was to come up regarding an old foe, no amount of fair treatment would ever persuade our more paranoid members that the foe wasn't singled out for special persecution because of his past. Or conversely, if an old friend of his was cleared in a cheating case, nobody could prevent some people thinking that the friend got preferential treatment.

This! 100% this. I mean my own experiences both running community sites and owning one before it was that if a user had an issue with you, you would have to ask someone else to deal with them, otherwise you'd get accused of power abuse and bias. Now these are/were just communities, not games. But the fundamentals are the same.

You have to be kidding me w/ this post. And yes, you have officially offended me as I don't post a whole lot due to trolls.

I guess now my main question is... how does one politely ask who the other username is without being fucking flies on shit?

You sir are on my foe list. Once you become an un-teenie-bopper... i'll reconsider.

Lol, how big of you.

1) I don't really care about being on your little foe list.
2) I never want you to reconsider it, because you are obviously an extremely overly sensitive person that reacts very rashly, and personally attacks people based on age. I don't like those kinds of people and would rather avoid games with people like you.
3) To answer your question, I am talking about the report of Agent86, and the fact that everyone is all over him asking him what his old username is. If he wanted to tell us, he would have. Simple as that. He does not want to, so stop being a fly on shit and leave him alone! Yikes...

P.S: Sorry to "officially" offend you, big man...

Who's to say he wasn't a cook on his old account? And now when he wins games, he's actually not taking enough points from his opponents. Speculation is fun, but it rarely leads us anywhere.

Thank you all for the responses in both threads. There has been some legitimate responses with good discussion. Well in my defense, this is why the report was sent.

The owner starts a new account ( no problem ), I'm expecting it to be the administrative account. But then I notice games being played from this new account and with a good win percentage right from the start. So I'm thinking what was his original account? How many games where played and for how long? Now the problem I have, what if the original account is still playing games as well? Then that contradicts the site rules which Admin and all players should abide by shouldn't it. So what's the original account?

Discussion still open for debate, It was not a spurious report as some have said.

P.S. I never mentioned points, that's another issue altogether and one which I'm not asking.

That s what i asked for in suggestions at some point, or even low stakes games.
Then I just got bored and just started tons of 1v1 speeders vs any low rank and lost 1000 points in 3 days lol. You can do that too mister C, then get your rank back!

Been there and done that betiko. These days I focus on playing what I like and not worrying much about rank, beyond trying to stay over 2500 while doing it..which is an interesting personal challenge for me.

Yep, I share the same feelings on the situation. And of course, as someone said, the owner can do whatever he wants and we just have to trust it's legitimate for the sake of the community.

Curious minds will still be wondering "who is this masked-man".
