Nikolai wrote:Just out of curiosity, are any of you American-haterz mathematically geeky enough to explain why the mass of Americans who play explains the stack of American generals? Because I consider myself fairly mathematically geeky, and I'm pretty sure that numbers don't change the fact that the reason America has the top six spots on the scoreboard is just because the six players with the best scores are American.

Oh, btw, I'm rooting for Selin. GO SELIN!

well.. As many others. I am not sure how serious JR was.. But still....

When this site now is running on its second year it is bound to happen. That the top players on the scoreboard are from USA. There have been moments when none of the topplayers have been from USA.

And if we do it one step further. From the top 20 players on this site (high score all time and "generals") (minus 1 multi)

10 are from USA and 9 are from "rest of the world"

And at the top 50 right now 27 are from USA and hence 23 are from "the rest of the world"

The first example: US: 52.5 %

second: 54 %

And I have no clue of how many US player there are.. but i think they are more then 54 %... ;)

My simple point is. Everything can be proven with numbers and statistics...

He wasnt serious at all....he is kicked back in his chair, feet on his desk, drinking his coffee, practically spitting it out in laughter at the need to explain why every post in the generals spot has the red white and blue*

...except for the one silly maple leaf, which will probably never leave...which is fine...I mean, hockey can only take a country so far...gotta give em something else too right?? :D

Stupid. Most players from USA anyway. And, besides, look at this:

http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?p ... 00&search=

Looks like the majority of the WORST players here's from USA also. :P

What does the number of Americans on this site have to do with who is in the top 10? Does having more members somehow make us all better Risk players?

The USA also has more porn sites than any other country. By this logic, this must mean we are also the best at sex. ;)

No, there's another more obvious conclusion you can draw from that, and that's America has the biggest collection of wankers....

Not that I would say that, of course.

Probability, my friend, probability.

Also score is not the best measure of skill. You have to factor in things like time spent on the computer (games played) and people who take advantage of the scoring system. To really figure out the top ten on the site you'd have to have a massive, all member, tourney.

You could also look at it in terms of population:

Canada has around 33 million people, with 2 in the top 10: 1 spot per 16.5mil
USA has around 300 million people with 8 in the top 10: 1 spot per 37.5 mil

For that statistic to be valid, you would have to factor in Internet access availability, age, (The USA has a rapidly aging population with many afraid to touch a computer), and work to recreation hours.

I can see this ending up like the "Dug" threads.

I'm an American, proud of it, but I say, "Go CC!" lets all have fun in what ever little part of the world we inhabit.

Want to know how big of a mark we all make in the world? Go stick your arm in the ocean, or any body of water, toilet included, pull it out, and see how big of a mark you leave. It will humble you.

Truly Amazing Thailand! Land of the Free!

Come on, sing the National Anthem, you know you want to:

Music: http://www.learningthai.com/songs/anthem_02.html

Thailand is the unity of Thai blood and body.
The whole country belongs to the Thai people,
maintaining thus far for the Thai.
All Thais intend to unite together.
Thais love peace but do not fear to fight.
They will never let anyone threaten their independence.
They will sacrifice every drop of their blood to contribute to the nation,
will serve their country with pride and prestige full of victory.

Hello Mr. Cheeseweasel?

Good afternoon sir. I'm calling from Molacole Opinion Research and I'd just like to ask you a few questions if that's alright?

Good. First I'll read the question and then I'll present a number of responses and you tell me which one most closely represents your view. OK? Here's the question:

The United States is a country in the world and lots of people think that it's the greatest country in the world, but thinking only of what's in your mind, sir, how you feel about this, which country would you say is the greatest in the world?

OK, now here are the responses, sir:

1) The United States and I'm 100% sure of this and approximately 76% sure that the mods handled the Dug situation correctly, or

2) The United States, but I'm not really 100% sure it's actually a single country, or

3) I was going to say the United States, but then the mods punished Dug so now as a protest I'm going to say Zimbabwe, or

4) Did you know Wales was a country? Well it is. I'm 100% sure of that, but despite that information I still say the greatest country in the world is probably the United States but the mods didn't really handle things the way I wanted them too so I'm kind of leaning toward North Korea at this point.

OK sir, so the question again sir, is which of those choices comes closest to representing your opinion on the question.

Do you want me to read the question again, Mr. CheeseWeasel?

Mr. CheeseWeasel?

Are you still there, Mr. CheeseWeasel?....
Cheers,
