Twill,

First, may I congratulate you on your efforts to make CC a better, more enjoyable place for everyone. I think that most people around here don't realize that being a mod is less about power and more about responsibility. Its not alway easy, so again my congradulations.

Secondly, may I recommend AAFitz for "moderatorship". He seems very levelheaded, fair, and has good sportsmanship. (Look at his feedback). I have enjoyed the game that I played with him, and he taught me several tactics. He's not out there for score, he's out there to play and have fun. Plus, he has a talent: He masters his typing with the English Language. He's great talking back and forth in the forums. Also, MACWIN might also be a good selection.

Finally, for all you people who think would make good moderators out there, (and this is just good common sense) remember as Twill pointed out you can't be saying "pick me, pick me." A moderator goes where he/ she is sent. His job is to serve, and not to be part of a "power game" or an "elite club" For those who are selected, be honored with you position, and use it the way it was intended. Rather then say "pick me", you should asking twill if theres anyway you can volunteer your time to make CC a better place, where new recruits can come in and enjoy the same experience the rest of us have. And sorry for if I had offended anyone, I just felt I had to say this for those who want power withing CC.

1. Be helpful, answer their questions on the forums, in games and in chat
2. Volunteer to mentor someone (see the stickied thread in Strategy)
3. Be nice and welcoming, don't critisize them for not being knowledgable about all things CC.
4. Remember how it was when you were new and try to treat them like you would've liked to have been treated.

So he's a bit down on his luck, give him a chance. I would not be here today if it weren't for some of you giving me a nice warm welcome. (It was really wicked's cookies....no JK) Remember, we're here to have fun, and allow others to have fun.

Anyone who's been on the site can show someone around, explain the different game types and clans and such, tell them about greasemonkey, how to leave feedback, where to report problems, etc... You don't have to be a rocket scientist to point out features of the site, right? If someone wants to step up and volunteer, they're not going to be shot down. After all, I don't see many of you volunteering to mentor.

That can have it's downside too  :-^ That said some mentoring is going on in other places outside your thread wicked we have a mentoring programme in place in KoE where every senior is assigned one junior to mentor, I suspect other clans may have similar pro grammes in place.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

All it takes along with the above is consistency, gentle behavior, and ice in your veins.

Mix 'em all together, let 'em simmer for a while, and out pops a mod.

It sure is good to see how subtle everyone is in their bids for mod-ship.

If it continues to quack, eventually it becomes safe to conclude duck-hood.

The funny thing is (I'm sure twill will confirm), people change when you give them mod controls. Sometimes they instantly disappear (this happens with surprising frequency); sometimes they become aggressive; sometimes they stop participating; and occasionally they integrate in and flow right along nicely(the desired result).

It's just another dice roll.

{disclaimer: I am trying hard to disappear from this place so all participation in this discussion should be considered supportive only}.

I nominate Reverend Kyle. With appropriate guidance and boundaries I think he'd be fine.

Twill wrote:Mornin all.

Sooooo, the mod squad isn't always the most popular group of people around I hear - and sometimes they just aren't around....

Well, first off, go a bit easier on 'em. My number one rule of moding has always been, always will be and forever should be
You are first and always a community member, second a player, and distant third, a moderator.

These guys are here to have fun just as much as you are. They volunteer their time to try to keep the site running but at the end of the day, they are just the same as everyone else here.

Secondly, I'm going to be trying to get back to our roots in the mod squad. We started as a hands off group and I'd like to get back to that...but I need your help to do it - we can't be hands off unless people generally stop feeding the trolls, stop jumping on newbies and stop spamming.

Lastly, I'm going to be beefing up the whole team a fair bit. Expect new mods, new support staff, entire new departments (like a translation staff and a few special projects) so you should see a lot more eyes in a lot more places doing a lot more things (other than locking hopefully)
As they say though - don't contact us, we'll contact you. There is no quicker way to disqualify yourself than by PMing me "I will mod, I like power" or something to the effect of "pick me, pick me"
If you think someone around the forum would be good, drop me a line and explain why, give examples (links are good) and don't brown nose - it wont get your friend anywhere :)

If you ever have any problems with any of the staff, including myself or Lack (although, everyone should love Lack), don't hesitate to get in touch with me, that's what I'm here for and it stays between you and me.

Alright folks, that's it for now. Hopefully we can shake things up a bit here, make it a better place to be with new faces coming in and staying longer than they do now.

Have a good one, may your days be Conquery
