Holy crap. There is such a thing? I vote we put together a delegation and raise funds to send them next year, wearing matching t-shirts and playing martial music on loud boomboxes. Seriously... a year from now whoever is in the top 20 here will HAVE to be world beaters! We must already play more, and play more people, than any of these suckas. Who's their so-called champ, this paper champ, this tissue tiger, this tinpot Napoleon, this Chaka of chumps, this Genghis of the Gimps? Photograph each turn of the final games, roizeau! It's time CC moved on to PHASE TWO. This time, our conquest shall be real!

Wow, it's kinda scary to admit this but I was thinking the same thing as Zaw - CC should sponsor a team to the next Tournament of Champions!

WHAT

I live 30 minutes from there!! If I had known about this earlier I would have gone to represent CC! If its in the same location next year I will certainly be a willing member of the CC delegation, especially if it was a sponsored group of individuals with tshirts and banners and what not :P

YESSS! Count me in! I say we do it!
And what a great place to recruit new members!
And to meet fellow players that we know only by name and avatar.
Besides, it's supposed to be a nice place to enjoy a vacation.

hee hee... It'll be like playing with a bunch of noobs... hee hee hee

I can see it now... 6 ConquerClub members at the final table... and all those prior champions with thier long faces wondering how it happened.

But I wonder, will we able to handle the social pressure of live play... I'd better get some sensitivity training before hand... wouldn't want to flip the board in a fit of rage or lunge across the table in response to some idiotic move [-X

It will be mighty expensive to send people, as cool as it would be.

Does that mean if I get to number 1 I can hound you guys for a free trip to America?

Hell man, I wouldn't think we would pay for the whole thing, but I'd chip in to pay for the entrance fee (which is like $60.) I doubt I'll be able to go next year, so I could send someone in my place, kind of like an AVATAR.

Ooh! We could have a fundraising tournament! Everyone who enters pays like $5 and if you win you get a little icon next to your name that looks like a trophy! And then the person who wins the world championship ('cause, it's already totally inevitable) gets another icon of a bigger trophy!

Dang Zaw, just how long IS your sentence... maybe with good behavior you could make it out in time...

In any case, we should really be looking at our top players for: Std, Classic, Escalating, Seq, Chained(?)... and we'll need to sharpen our initial troop deployment skills (they don't start with 3 on every country)

Lack, anyway to use the game finder to list the top players by category?
Then get those players playing against each other using those rules, improving strategy all along the way.

lol... just searched my own games... I've only won 1 of 3 such games. But if you drop the fort filter, I've won 10 of 20. We definetly need "Elite Championship Prep" games/tounaments.

I think the main criteria should top singles sequential escalating players if CC decides to send people. The fortifications don't make a very big deal (I would think most top players can play well on any fortification type).

However I agree that over the year would should test people out with the exact specifications and rule types they have at this Championship. If we ever do get a feature that allows us to select our countries in the beginning that would be awesome. If not just play the games as Robinette said. Then you just need to look at which players have completed a lot (perhaps 50+) of the specified game type, and take the ones with the best records that are willing and able to go. Paying for flights and hotels seems like a little much but CC handling the entry fee and possibly T-shirts and hats would be sweet enough

Maybe we should contact this group and ask of the possibility of a live free style tournament? :P

sully... they select countries randomly just like we do (except they actually deal the cards), but it's placing the remaining armies that is different. us = 3 total per country... them (and the official rules) = each additional army is placed at your discretion, 1 per player, until all the starting armies have been placed... and THEN the game begins.

I think since thats mostly how landgrab does it we should send CC's best player at landgrab!

/not self promoting.

The first problem is obviously that we could only send so many people, and only so many people would be able or willing to go. Do we try and pay the fees for EVERYONE from CC who enters? Or just (for example) those in the top 50 who enter? If we have a tournament to pick a team, the criteria for tournament entry can't be rank, but who thinks they can travel to an as-yet-undecided location many months from now for several days? Also, such people would probably mostly/only be North Americans...

Personally, I think we offer to pay the entrance fee for anyone in the top 100 who is willing to go! Whoo!

Many of you are looking at this all wrong...
this would be a great "excuse" to travel to new places... well, for those who aren't still locked up in a cell (sorry zAw)...

So yes, this would mean the kiddies would not be able to go... (hard to get permission from parents) but so what!
And yes, many of the working class would not be able to go... (hard to get permission from bosses) but so what!
Of course, people with financial issues would not be able to go... (hard to get permission from the bank account) but so what!
And there are people who have the freedom, the cash, the time, but just WON'T go ("it's not important enough")... but so what!

But so what , I say, because this is about something bigger (and something better) than all those people and thier petty lives combined.

This is about getting together the best... not just the best players, but the best at making thier lives work.
Being better than most at controlling thier own destiny.
Being better than most at balancing freedom and finances, and
Being better than most at understanding that life is enhanced with rich experiences...

Yes, this is about much more than just winning a game, this is, in essense, about the pursuit of life itself.
And I for one am looking forward to meeting other such exceptional people, and in doing so I am choosing, yet again, to further enrich my own life.

Hope to see you there... wherever "there" happens to be (steps off soap-box)

IMO, everyone who wants to go should pay their own way.. but there should be nothing restricting them from wearing like a cc patch to represent the site you know what I mean?

by we on paying the top 100's way do you mean everyone on cc? lack? eh?

Oh man, I new about the re-trial, but I just heard that it resulted in a life sentence for you... I really thought you had a chance after they had let over 400 other people go free.

For those of you who don't know, ZawBanjito (which is a nom de guerre for Presidente Gonzalo, which is a non de plume for Abimael Guzmán) is currently incarcerated in Callao in one of four subterranean cells. And it is rumored they are limiting his conquer club priviliges in exchange for good behavior.

Check out the details...

and why would he behave if this was the reward?.

Noooo! Okay, I really am changing the avatar right now. I'm sorry to anyone offended... I have two hobbies: CC, and obsessively reading Wikipedia. One day I needed an avatar for the former, and read the above linked article in the latter. "Are you sure no one will be offended?" asked Nobunaga. "No one will knooooooow, silly!" I replied.

The game's up. Try to guess my NEW ONE!
