Really????
I thought my response was rather mild given what he said.
As a note, that was said in round 4, I ended up losing the game in round 13.
Game 9336916

It was exceedingly condescending for him to think I would give him any territory, much less the game, until he had earned it through wiping out my force.

You say you're a chess player. In games between Grandmasters, when someone gains an advantage, that's game over, and the other concedes defeat. Granted, I'm no GM, so I keep playing until it's obvious that I'm not going to win (say, 9 points down (= ).
Your opponent was pointing out the obvious. And if you had been able to turn it around and defeat him, you could have had a good laugh at his expense. =)
Dibbun wrote:Second, sportsmanship is a good indicator of character. Telling your opponent they've lost and should give up is profoundly poor sportsmanship.

Instead you start a thread so the entire site can see what a narcissistic soiled tissue in an adult book store you are.
Dibbun wrote:This was round 4, and the game didn't end until round 13, and it's an escalating spoils game. Are you really saying that it was impossible to win from round 4, and the other 9 rounds were meaningless?
Dibbun wrote:I think the wider problem is the socialization that a lot of you (those who have no life) force on other players.. spamming your acronyms in games, like gl and gg, which really have no meaning unless you're trying to fish for good ratings to maintain eligibility in your noob squad.

I'm from a chess background, and if someone told me to surrender I'd hit him. Whether or not I choose to surrender is my discretion, and I would not be caught dead asking my opponent to surrender. I also would not ever imply the game is over prior to the checkmate.
So why don't you play your turns and not speak unless spoken to, otherwise enjoy your 1-star ratings from those who aren't afraid to tell you that you have your collective heads up your asses with your rudeness and lack of class, and that telling someone you don't even know that they might as well suicide is far more crude than my profane comment to my opponent in that game.

First, in chess games, victory is very rarely assured. The avoidance of defeat may certainly be assured, but often there are ways to force a stalemate, even when your opponent has not lost a single piece.
Second, sportsmanship is a good indicator of character. Telling your opponent they've lost and should give up is profoundly poor sportsmanship. What would you do in a football game if your opponent took a big lead in the first quarter then told you to go ahead and run out the clock since you lost anyway? This was round 4 of 13, so it was certainly not even close to the halfway mark.

Wait, so why are you foeing him?
I just made a mental note that if I'm playing dibbun I should tell him he's lost already or some such in round 2. After all, it is easier to beat someone who's foaming at the mouth with anger.
